Senior Project Manager – Electrical ConstructionÂ
Type: Direct HireÂ
Location: San Francisco Bay Area, CAÂ
Salary: $150K–$190K DOEÂ
About the RoleÂ
We are partnered with a Fortune 500-backed electrical construction firm to recruit a Senior Project Manager for its San Francisco Bay Area operations, based out of its East Bay office. The firm has built and maintained electrical and low-voltage systems across Northern California for over 75 years, with the financial backing and bonding capacity of a national parent company and the project pipeline of a regional market leader.Â
This role sits within the firm’s commercial division, anchored in healthcare construction (OSHPD/HCAi hospital and medical facility projects), with commercial tenant improvement rounding out the portfolio. The Senior Project Manager personally runs the division’s most complex and demanding electrical projects while providing day-to-day guidance to a small group of project managers handling their own jobs on an as-needed basis.Â
This is a senior, hands-on role for a project manager who still wants to lead the work directly. The Senior Project Manager takes on the division’s most significant projects — multi-million-dollar healthcare and commercial electrical builds across the public and private sector — with full ownership of budget, schedule, and delivery, while mentoring and supporting the project managers around them. The position reports to the Division Manager/Vice President and works alongside a small group of fellow senior project managers.Â
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
Project Leadership & DeliveryÂ
- Personally manage the division’s most complex commercial electrical projects, from preconstruction through closeoutÂ
- Carry full responsibility for schedule, quality, safety, and delivery on assigned workÂ
Project Manager Oversight & MentorshipÂ
- Provide day-to-day guidance and technical direction to a group of project managers running their own jobsÂ
- Develop project manager capability and step in on escalations and high-risk situationsÂ
Financial & Contract ManagementÂ
- Maintain full financial responsibility for assigned projects, including budgets, revenue and profit projections, and cash flowÂ
- Own customer pay applications, subcontractor and consultant invoicing, and payment status in coordination with the project teamÂ
- Prepare, approve, and submit project budgetsÂ
Preconstruction & RiskÂ
- Review estimates, proposal scope letters, and RFQ/RFP documents for subcontractor and vendor solicitation, and participate in the bid review processÂ
- Identify and manage project risks and issues, escalating to division leadership as appropriateÂ
QualificationsÂ
RequiredÂ
- Extensive electrical construction project management experience at a senior level, with a track record on complex projectsÂ
- Substantial healthcare construction (OSHPD/HCAi) experienceÂ
- Union (IBEW) contractor experienceÂ
- Full financial responsibility for multi-million-dollar electrical projects, including budget, schedule, and cash flow managementÂ
- Experience guiding or overseeing other project managers, not just field crew leadershipÂ
PreferredÂ
- Familiarity with Procore and AccubidÂ
- Established Bay Area subcontractor and vendor relationshipsÂ
