Mark Thomas is hiring a Senior Transportation Planning Project Manager to help us grow our statewide team! The Senior Transportation Planning Project Manager works with clients and internal teams to advance active transportation projects, improve multi-modal transportation networks, and coordinate/supervise grant funding opportunities. This position works collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team in a statewide capacity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists senior members of leadership in developing overall business development strategy for the transportation planning team.
  • Wins and leads large scale projects; leads project teams to successful completion of quality deliverables.
  • Manages the quality, budget, and schedule of assigned projects.
  • Engages with all aspects of project proposals and participates in project interviews with new or existing clients.
  • Generates sufficient business to sustain and grow the planning group; partners with the region's Business Development Manager to identify leads to pursue and secure new or renewed project work.
  • Maintains a network of business contacts; engages in industry community and events.
  • Maintains a visible presence in professional organizations through speaking roles and publications.
  • Develops and leads a cohesive planning team to achieve project objectives
  • Performs and audits quality control measures for project work.
  • Effectively communicates the technical approach to projects and proposal strategies to staff, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Responsibly and effectively manages direct reports and performs and completes tasks related to supervising others successfully.
  • Monitors and tracks the development of State and Federal policies grant funding performance measures.
  • Identifies and recommends grant funding opportunities to clients, and oversees preparation of grant funding applications.
  • Provides strategic funding guidance and positioning efforts for public sector clients.
  • Promotes continuous learning and ongoing professional training, including in-house training programs, etc.
  • Demonstrates depth & knowledge in transportation planning and active transportation discipline.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10-12+ years of progressively responsible transportation planning experience.
  • BS In Planning/Urban Studies, Landscape Architecture or Engineering field.
  • Relevant master's degree a plus.
  • Proficient with project deliverable processes in Planning, Design, and Construction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to successfully lead teams.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal grant funding programs and policies.
  • Demonstrated depth and knowledge in active transportation planning.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project financials and metrics.
  • Demonstrated marketing and business development skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
