Job description

Job Title: Scheduler

Location: Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center

Department Name: Cancer Center

Status: Hourly

Shift: Day

Pay Range: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour

Job Overview:

The Scheduler is responsible for coordinating all patient infusion treatments and therapies in alignment with physician appointments for the Infusion and Cancer Center. This role manages infusion scheduling, work queues and In Basket communications within the EPIC electronic medical record system to ensure accurate and timely scheduling. The Infusion Scheduler collaborates closely with physician teams to support efficient coordination of treatment plans and works with the Authorization team to confirm that all required approvals are obtained prior to scheduling. The position also serves as a key point of contact for patients, confirming and communicating final appointment details to ensure a seamless and supportive care experience.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Six 6 months to one 1 year of relevant experience and/or training

Preferred:

  • Epic Experience
  • Experience with Scheduling
  • Oncology Background
  • Bilingual 

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Working Shift: Monday – Friday 
  • Day Shift: 9:00AM-5:00PM
  • Full-Time, 37.5 Hours Per Week

Essential Functions:

Operations

  • Schedules surgical diagnostic procedures
  • Reviews schedules for accuracy and completeness
  • Identifies potential conflicts (i.e. equipment, instrumentation and works collaboratively with appropriate personal to resolve)
  • Notifies surgeon, anesthesia office, other departments as appropriate regarding procedure schedule changes
  • Distributes future schedules to appropriate individuals

Interpersonal Relationships

  • Interacts with physicians, office staff, patients, if applicable and in a professional and courteous manner
  • Collaborates with the anesthesia department regarding daily assignments
  • Communicates with OR desk regarding special circumstances

Data Management

  • Monitors usage of block time and provides information to OR leadership as requested
  • Maintains booking sheets and related information
  • Assists in gathering information for department statistics
