Job description

The State of Michigan - Department of Technology, Management & Budget (DTMB) is seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Solutions Architect 5 to support the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). This position plays a critical role in implementing, maintaining, and supporting HPC systems, storage solutions, and security infrastructure across the enterprise.
Job Title: Infrastructure Solutions Architect 5
Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid - Onsite 3 Days/Week)
Duration: 1 Year (With possible extension)
Start Date: May 12, 2025
Submission Deadline: April 23, 2025
Work Authorization: Open (Must be local within 90 minutes of Lansing, MI)
Submission Requirements:

Interview Process:
  • Virtual interview via MS Teams

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and maintain high-performance computing (HPC) systems and security.
  • Manage data infrastructure including SAN/NAS storage, backup, and virtualization.
  • Provide technical support for installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • dminister high-speed network storage systems including Mellanox switches and NAS Clusters.
  • Configure and support cloud platforms including compute engines and storage buckets.
  • Manage databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle.
  • Collaborate with Labs and DTMB staff to manage computational resources.
  • Ensure security, disaster recovery, and high availability of enterprise infrastructure.
  • utomate system configuration using tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
  • Conduct log analysis and resource monitoring using tools like Dynatrace, IIS logs.
  • ssist in setting up failover environments and completing disaster recovery plans.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • 10+ years Linux System Administration (Ubuntu, CLI, Networking, Security)
  • 10+ years in Bash & Python scripting with automation experience (e.g., Nextflow)
  • 10+ years experience with SLURM workload manager (install, configure, troubleshoot)
  • 10+ years managing clusters and enterprise storage (NAS/Qumulo, rsync, mount strategies)
  • Experience with configuration tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
  • Cloud computing knowledge (Compute engines, Storage buckets)
  • HPC security, networking, and firewall configuration
  • Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Singularity)
  • Experience with system and network monitoring
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and compliance experience

Preferred Knowledge (Not Required but a Plus):
  • HL7 messaging
  • CloudFlare, ForcePoint rules (e.g., C86 rule)
  • Familiarity with CDC-hosted apps
  • Experience with web.config analysis and performance monitoring
