Job description

Sr. Nutanix & Infrastructure Engineer
Summary
Our client is seeking a Sr. Nutanix & Infrastructure Engineer to serve as the primary engineer for their Nutanix AHV/HCI platform supporting Windows Server workloads and core on-prem Windows infrastructure services.  This role will drive their migration from VMware to Nutanix with an August deadline while providing technical leadership and day-to-day guidance to a distributed support model, including offshore engineers, delivering operational support for Nutanix and Windows infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary engineer for their Nutanix AHV/HCI platform, including cluster operations, capacity/performance management, and troubleshooting.
  • Lead and guide offshore infrastructure engineers providing operational support, setting technical standards, and overseeing escalations.
  • Plan and execute Nutanix lifecycle activities (upgrades, patching, firmware coordination) and drive platform reliability.
  • Provide senior-level engineering support for Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and PKI certificates.
  • Operate and support Nutanix Database (NDB) Service clusters and Nutanix Files Services for Windows Server workloads.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of infrastructure engineering experience with 3+ years supporting enterprise virtualization platforms (Nutanix strongly preferred).
  • Hands-on Nutanix administration, including clusters, storage/compute, lifecycle/upgrade processes, and performance management.
  • Experience supporting Nutanix Files and Nutanix Database (NDB) Service clusters in production.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory (domain services, DCs, Group Policy, DNS integration, trusts).
  • Experience managing internal and public certificates (PKI concepts, TLS, certificate chains, renewals).
  • Working knowledge of DNS management practices across internal and external platforms (Cloudflare).

Preferred

  • Nutanix certifications (NCA, NCP, NCM) or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Experience with the following:
    • Backup, replication, and disaster recovery practices for virtualized workloads;
    • Using Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) on Microsoft Azure;
    • Rubrik backup administration
    • Microsoft 365 administration (Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive);
    • Coordinating vulnerability remediation and operational hardening on Windows servers.
