About Us
TBO Bank (AKA The Bank of Opportunity) has been serving customers from our hometown location in Orrick, Missouri. We’ve taken pride in building banking relationships that have spanned decades. Now we’re bringing “the feel” of hometown banking to a broader landscape. Our mission: to connect and empower in a way that is human, relatable and real. As we expand the reach of our relationships, you can feel secure working for a bank that just gets it.
Position Summary/Objective
We are looking for a passionate and outgoing individual to support a complex technology stack, including custom-developed software powering our lending program, alongside a growing investment in AI-driven tools and processes. We're looking for a Cloud Infrastructure & Systems Engineer who can take primary ownership of our AWS environment while also serving as a versatile, hands-on contributor across our broader tech stack.
This is a "jack of all trades" role for someone who is equally comfortable architecting and securing cloud infrastructure as they are troubleshooting a server issue, supporting the development team, or jumping in to help with a technology need outside their core specialty. You'll work closely with our Director of IT, taking on operational and technical responsibilities that allow the Director to focus on strategic, director-level initiatives.
Essential Functions
AWS Infrastructure (Primary Responsibility)
- Serve as the primary technical owner for the organization's AWS infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, identity, security, monitoring, and supporting services.
- Evaluate and implement AWS services and architectural improvements that improve reliability, security, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Design, maintain, and troubleshoot AWS networking, including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, VPN connectivity, DNS, load balancing, and connectivity between AWS and on-premises environments.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools to improve consistency, repeatability, and change management.
- Manage security patching, vulnerability remediation, and configuration hardening across all AWS-hosted systems
- Configure and maintain infrastructure monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability to proactively identify and resolve system issues.
- Establish meaningful performance and availability metrics and respond to infrastructure alerts and incidents
- Manage and validate backup and disaster recovery solutions, including recovery testing, documentation, recovery objectives, and remediation of identified gaps
- Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and post-incident remediation for infrastructure and production issues
- Support IT security, risk, and compliance initiatives by maintaining appropriate access controls, encryption, logging, configuration standards, vulnerability remediation, and audit documentation
- Assist with security assessments, audits, penetration-test remediation, and regulatory or compliance requests as needed
Development Support
- Work with software engineers to troubleshoot application infrastructure, deployment issues, environment configuration, networking, database connectivity, and production incidents
- Support CI/CD pipelines, source control integrations, build and deployment processes, and automated environment provisioning
- Bridge the gap between infrastructure and application teams, particularly around our custom-developed lending platform
Broader IT Support & Flexibility
- Serve as a flexible resource across the IT team's needs — from occasional tech support to system upgrades and other operational tasks
- Step in where needed to help offload operational work currently handled by the Director of IT
- Participate in cross-functional projects, including initiatives related to the organization's expanding use of AI
Experience and Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience managing production cloud infrastructure, with significant hands-on AWS experience
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, routing, and network security
- Experience administering Windows Server and/or Linux environments
- Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, CloudWatch, or similar tools
- Comfort operating as a generalist — willing and able to move between infrastructure, development support, and general IT tasks as priorities shift
- Experience in a regulated industry (banking, financial services, or similar)
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies
- Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and recovery testing
- Experience troubleshooting production applications and infrastructure in a high-availability environment.
- Strong documentation and change-management discipline
- AWS certification (e.g., Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator) is a plus but not required
Physical Requirements**
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
- You must be able to use a computer and other office equipment (e.g., phone, printer).
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through written correspondence.
- Ability to concentrate and focus on tasks for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.
