Description

We are seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to design, build, and operate full-stack cloud infrastructure on AWS. This role is responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and highly available cloud environments across networking, compute, storage, and platform services.

This is a hands-on engineering role that combines deep technical execution with architectural collaboration, requiring strong experience in AWS, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud-native design patterns. The ideal candidate will also provide technical leadership to junior engineers while partnering closely with centralized architecture teams.

Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure Engineering

Design, build, and maintain end-to-end AWS infrastructure including:

  • Networking (VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups)
  • Compute (EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, container platforms)
  • Storage (S3, EBS, RDS, and related services)
  • Build scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient cloud environments aligned with enterprise standards
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred, CloudFormation, or similar)
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation for infrastructure and applications

Architecture & Design

  • Translate business and application requirements into AWS-based solutions and technical designs
  • Collaborate with centralized AWS architects to align implementation with enterprise architecture standards
  • Contribute to design reviews, architecture decisions, and continuous improvement of cloud patterns
  • Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and performance standards
  • Collaborate across departments with Application Development leadership to align on and design infrastructure solutions

Operations & Reliability

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize AWS environments for performance, availability, and cost efficiency
  • Implement best practices for logging, monitoring, and alerting (e.g., CloudWatch)
  • Participate in incident response and root cause analysis
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Lead implementation efforts and drive engineering best practices
  • Collaborate with DevOps Platform team, security, and application teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Act as a senior engineering voice in technical discussions and decision-making

On-Call & Support

  • Participate in a rotational on-call schedule, including after-hours and weekend support
  • Respond to and resolve production incidents as part of operational responsibilities
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on AWS engineering experience (mid-to-senior level)
  • Proven experience designing and implementing AWS infrastructure across:
  • Networking, compute, and storage layers
  • Strong expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (Terraform)
  • Deep knowledge of AWS core services (e.g., EC2, S3, VPC, IAM) and platform services
  • Experience with Elastic Beanstalk and application deployment patterns
  • Solid understanding of cloud architecture, security, and scalability

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator)
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS)
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling and DevOps practices
  • Familiarity with cost optimization (FinOps) practices
  • Background in hybrid cloud or migration initiatives
  • PCI, SOC and SOX experience
  • Experience with on prem Windows infrastructure is a plus

Technical Skills

  • AWS Services: EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, RDS, Elastic Beanstalk
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation
  • Scripting: Python, Bash, or similar
  • CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline
