Role Summary
We are looking for an Electromagnetic Compatibility Test Engineer who seeks to enter the rapidly growing EV marketplace. Our team focuses on providing EMC technical expertise into the Design and Verification of the PCBAs & ECUs (Electronic Control Units) for current and next gen vehicle platforms (Autonomy, Infotainment, Vehicle Controls, Power Conversion, Propulsion, Dynamics etc.) . You will be assessing the electromagnetic interactions between all circuits integrated into our vehicles and providing integration guidance and design validation.
Responsibilities
  • Work with hardware designers to develop the next generation of control electronics for Rivian vehicles.
  • Test ECU and vehicle design margins in RIVIAN EMC laboratories.
  • Improve accuracy and automate for efficiency RIVIAN EMC test methods and data acquisition.
  • Develop systems engineering models for sub-system EMI Source/Victim interactions in vehicles. Feed into electrical and mechanical integration and wiring harness design.

Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or similar discipline, + 3 years of work experience.
    • Master's degree in electrical engineering or similar discipline, + 1 years of work experience.
    • PhD degree in electrical engineering or similar discipline, + 0 years of work experience.
    • Good understanding of electrical circuit fundamentals analog circuits, RLC tank circuits, transmission line theory, and switch mode power supplies.
    • Good hands-on electronics debugging skills with an ability to work across orgs/teams.
    • Experience with scripting language for data analysis (Matlab, Python, CAN)
  • Preferred Skills
    • Knowledge of electromagnetics physics fundamental concepts (Maxwell's equations, boundary conditions, electric and magnetic field sources, propagation, shielding)
    • Experience in high-speed circuit design, radio receiver design, and/or antenna & transmission-line design.
    • Experience in optimization & accuracy in standard operating procedures for EMC test automation to relevant automotive standards.
    • Experience in using electronic test equipment (network analyzers, frequency response analyzers) for characterizing circuit parasitics in PCBAs or wiring assemblies.

Pay Disclosure
The salary range for this role is $121,000 - $151,000 for Irvine, CA based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
We offer a comprehensive package of benefits for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26, including but not limited to paid vacation, paid sick leave, and a competitive portfolio of insurance benefits including life, medical, dental, vision, short-term disability insurance, and long-term disability insurance to eligible employees.
