Get to Know Your Team:ย 

  • Portneuf Medical Center (PMC) is a nationally recognized healthcare leader with 205 beds, serving as the region's Level II Trauma Center and tertiary referral hospital and is home to the Portneuf Heart and Vascular Institute, Portneuf Cancer Center, Portneuf Medical Group, and Portneuf Air Rescue. PMC has a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, an adult intensive care unit, nationally recognized orthopedic services, a full suite of cardiac care, Center of Excellence recognized surgeons, imaging, and primary and specialty care.

Responsibilities
  • Assists in the development and coordination of the Infection Prevention and Control Program throughout the facility in conjunction with the Manager of Infection Prevention and the Infection Prevention and Control Committee.
  • Ensures the Infection Prevention and Control Program is in compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements including local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Identifies, investigates, monitors, and reports healthcare-associated infections.
  • Collaborates with teams and individuals to create infection prevention strategies, provide feedback, and sustain infection prevention strategies by researching appropriate policies/procedures, using current epidemiologic principles, performing infection related surveillance for healthcare associated infections, and helping investigate outbreaks.
  • Collaborate with and acts as a resource person for all departments and committees of the organization with reference to infection prevention and control.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:ย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Nursing or Clinical Laboratory Sciences/Medical Technologist or Bachelorโ€™s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Microbiology or other healthcare related field.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical hospital experience, preferably in an acute care setting or five years experience with quality, infection prevention, and/or performance improvement in addition to tertiary education.ย 
  • Experience in data abstraction or use of the electronic medical record required.
  • Current certification in infection prevention or must obtain within four years of hire.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Tools to compile figures, generate statistics, and prepare accurate reports and other documentation. Ability to formulate graphs and reports to analyze trends preferred.
