Mainspring Energy is seeking a Vice President of Industrialization to define and lead the company's end-to-end industrialization strategy, ensuring products successfully transition from development through production launch, scale, and lifecycle support.

This leader will oversee New Prototype Operations, New Product Introduction (NPI), Manufacturing Engineering, Production Test Engineering, Test Automation & Software, Technical Documentation, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Sustaining Engineering, Factory Analytics, Capital Equipment (CapEx), and Engineering Change Management (ECM).

Partnering across Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, Fleet Operations, Program Delivery, and Operational Technology, this executive will drive manufacturing readiness, scalable production systems, and operational excellence while building the organizational capability to support Mainspring's continued growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Mainspring's industrialization strategy from prototype through volume production.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on capacity planning, capital investments, organizational growth, and long-term manufacturing strategy.
  • Build, develop, and mentor leaders across NPI, Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, Technical Documentation, and Engineering Change Management.
  • Lead organizational design, workforce planning, and capability development across the industrialization organization.
  • Own industrialization performance metrics and drive improvements in product quality, manufacturing readiness, launch execution, capacity/throughput, budget, Capex tracking, and cost including scrap/waste reduction and efficiency gains
  • Drive cross-functional execution to ensure successful product launches that meet quality, cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
  • Establish manufacturing readiness processes, launch governance, and industrialization best practices.
  • Partner with Product Engineering to drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Test (DFT) initiatives.
  • Establish the systems, processes, and organizational capabilities required to support scalable, high-quality manufacturing growth.
  • Establish governance for engineering change management and configuration control to ensure product integrity, manufacturing stability, and operational agility.
  • Partner with internal manufacturing operations and external manufacturing partners to develop scalable production strategies and global industrialization capabilities.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes, test systems, and documentation support world-class product quality, reliability, and customer outcomes.
  • Drive operational excellence through process standardization, automation, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Ownership of factory capacity expansion and capex development and deployment
Required Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 15+ years of experience in manufacturing, NPI, industrialization, product operations, or production engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience leading managers and multidisciplinary engineering organizations.
  • Proven success building and leading multidisciplinary engineering organizations through multiple product launches, production ramps, and periods of rapid growth.
  • Experience managing annual operating plans, capital investment strategies, and organizational growth.
  • Demonstrated success launching complex electromechanical products from development through volume production, including leading manufacturing readiness and factory start-up activities across geographically distributed and/or international manufacturing locations
  • Experience scaling manufacturing operations in high-growth technology and industrial product companies.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, production test systems, engineering change management, and product lifecycle management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with PLM, ERP, MES, and quality management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business.
  • Experience in energy systems, industrial equipment, automotive, aerospace, or other complex hardware industries.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and global supply chains.
  • Familiarity with automated production equipment, controls systems, and industrial software.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience scaling operation remotely from live or sit.
$210,000 - $247,000 a year
This position is onsite at our Menlo Park HQ. The salary will be adjusted to reflect local market conditions based on employee location as well as the experience of the employee. Along with the base salary, Mainspring offers pre-IPO stock options + benefits.
