Their responsibilities typically include identifying potential clients, understanding customer needs, demonstrating products, negotiating contracts, and maintaining long-term business relationships. They often work with technical or specialized equipment and must have a good understanding of both the products they sell and the industries they serve. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are important in this role. Industrial Sales Associates play a key role in driving revenue growth for their companies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an industrial sales associate?

To thrive as an Industrial Sales Associate, you need a solid understanding of sales techniques, product knowledge in industrial goods, and typically a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with CRM software, sales analytics tools, and ERP systems is commonly required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, persuasive communication, and resilience under pressure help individuals excel in this role. These skills and qualities are essential for building client relationships, meeting sales targets, and driving business growth in a competitive industrial market.

Job description

Charlotte, NC sits at the center of one of the fastest-growing industrial and commercial corridors in the Southeast — a diverse market fueled by manufacturing, distribution, food processing, and advanced industrial production across the Carolinas. UAPC, a business unit within OTC Industrial Technologies' Air Supply segment, is looking for a driven Industrial Sales Representative to own it. This is a true greenfield opportunity — you'll develop the territory, establish new customer relationships, and shape your own book of business with full autonomy and the support you need to succeed. If you're entrepreneurial, customer-focused, and ready to grow, this is the opportunity you've been waiting for.

What's In It For You

  • Strong Six-Figure Earning Potential: Base salary plus an uncapped commission plan.
  • Greenfield Territory with Huge Potential: Build your own customer base from scratch with the full backing of OTC's resources, training, and support behind you
  • Vehicle Reimbursement Program: Stay focused on the territory, not the overhead
  • Streamlined CRM Tools: Spend more time selling and less time on admin
  • Strong Training & Support: Hands-on product and systems training to make you a trusted technical advisor
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, dental, vision + 401(k) with 50% match up to 6%, unlimited PTO, tuition assistance, and clear corporate career advancement support

Who Thrives Here

  • The Builder: Energized by starting from zero — you see a greenfield territory as an opportunity, not a risk, and you know how to turn a blank slate into a book of business.
  • The Self-Starter: You don't need a manager to tell you to pick up the phone. You set your own pace, hold yourself accountable, and bring urgency to every day.
  • The Trusted Advisor: Customers come back to you because you listen first, understand their operations, and recommend solutions that actually work — not just whatever moves product.
  • The Team Player: You compete hard externally and collaborate fully internally — working productively with regional resources, vendors, and associates to deliver for your customers

What You'll Do

  • Own your territory: Spend 80–90% of your time making sales calls; develop new buying accounts and build loyalty through 100% customer satisfaction from existing accounts; target competitive accounts to grow your customer base and penetrate the Seattle metro territory
  • Drive results: Achieve sales and margin levels that meet or exceed annual goals for all AT equipment offerings; budget and maintain market share targets in conjunction with regional objectives; deliver consistent results through mastering the COMMIT process and a clearly defined sales approach
  • Build solutions: Coordinate with regional resources to design and offer customer-centric system solutions across multiple product categories; master technical sales and territory management skills including product knowledge, system design, and proper prospecting and sales processes
  • Stay disciplined & accountable: Maintain disciplined daily and weekly activity goals per the Air Technologies standard; maintain an updated database; maintain excellent communications with all associates and customers; recognize potential problem areas and take corrective action

What You'll Need

  • Experience & Aptitude: Professional service sales background with a demonstrated record of success; prior outside sales experience with compressed air systems or related industrial products preferred; strong technical and mechanical aptitude
  • Sales Performance: Powerful sense of urgency and accountability; proficient and disciplined in productive time management; commitment to doing it right the first time
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent customer relationship-building skills; exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills; strong team attitude with the ability to work productively with associates, customers, and vendors
  • Tools & Mobility: Intermediate proficiency with MS Office programs; valid driver's license
