Job description

AIS is seeking certified teachers and therapists across multiple disciplines to join our team of independent contractors. In this role, contractors provide in-person services within local school divisions, delivering high-quality, specialized support to students with visual impairments and blindness.

Independent contractors serve as integral members of each student’s educational team. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive assessments and delivering targeted services to school-aged students. Contractors collaborate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with their area of expertise.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate a strong foundation in assessment practices, instructional strategies, evidence-based research, and best practices. Familiarity with both low- and high-tech assistive technology, as well as a clear understanding of the professional expectations for independent contractors working in school environments, is required.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid professional license in the relevant discipline
  • Relevant work experience preferred

The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate:

  • Extensive knowledge of special education regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Experience developing and implementing IEPs and Section 504 plans
  • Proficiency in conducting assessments and producing comprehensive reports with actionable recommendations
  • Experience providing consultation and training to educators and service providers
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, organizational, and planning skills
  • Broad understanding of the characteristics and needs of individuals with diverse disabilities
  • Ability to recognize and effectively respond to individual student differences
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with parents, school personnel, colleagues, and service providers
