As an independent contractor in maintenance, you are responsible for scheduling your own jobs, managing multiple client requests, and ensuring timely completion of work. Building strong client relationships through clear communication and reliability is key to securing repeat business and referrals. You'll need to balance administrative tasks, such as invoicing and record-keeping, with hands-on maintenance work. Many contractors use digital tools or apps to help organize appointments, track job progress, and maintain client contact information for follow-up. Successfully managing these aspects can lead to a steady stream of work and opportunities for growth.

What is the new independent contractor rule?

They can work for property management companies, businesses, or individual property owners, performing tasks such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, landscaping, and general upkeep. As independent contractors, they manage their own schedules, supply their own tools, and are responsible for paying their own taxes and insurance. Their flexibility allows clients to hire them for specific projects or ongoing maintenance needs.
