Job Summary:

As a Technical Writer within our high production environment, you will be responsible for developing new and maintaining existing content and documentation for Landis+Gyr products, including but not limited to user guides, installation manuals, quick start guides, and release notes for written and online content.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Work closely with product managers and SMEs to produce and maintain complete and accurate technical documentation using Adobe Structured FrameMaker, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite for PC platforms (both independently or within a team environment)Create high-quality, detailed content that is easy for customers to understand using Adobe Technical Communication Suite productsCreate day-to-day alert and bulletin documentation as necessary for timely release and publication to address emergent and non-urgent issuesCreate illustrations and graphics (vector- and raster-based) for technical documentation using Adobe Creative Suite productsDesign and develop templates for technical documents using Adobe Structured FrameMakerEdit manuals and other technical documentation created by other technical writersObtain scope, content, and schedule of desired end-product documentation and develop plans and milestones to achieve successful releasesCritically examine documentation at all stages in the writing process from a customer standpoint and bring to light any bugs, inconsistencies, and problems that need addressing before final system releaseMaintain flexibility and adaptability to work on other writers' projects to help meet deadlinesCompany Values: Supports and adheres to Company's core values.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Technical Communications, Electrical or Electronic Engineering/Technology or related field3-5 years' experience writing technical publications, software and hardware applications preferredExperience with both Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Technical Communication SuiteExperience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, SharePoint, and other industry standard applicationsExperience working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to obtain technical content needed to complete documentationExperience with DITA and/or XML authoring toolsUnderstanding of utility operations preferredPreferred Qualifications: Understand and communicate complex technology in a user-friendly mannerEffectively communicate both verbally and in writing with across multiple areas of the businessA collaborative spirit with a proven history of successful experiences managing large projects and working with SMEsFollow all applicable processes and guidelinesPossess strong ability, willingness, aptitude, and desire to learnMeet deadlines in a sometimes fast-paced, always detail-oriented environmentA willingness to and aptitude for engaging with documentation from a customer perspective with the intention to improve usability/accessibilityWorking Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Working Conditions:

Typical indoor office environment with the majority of time spent sitting and working on a computer using keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Occasional use of other devices such as: phone, copier/printer/fax, etc.

Physical Requirements:

Typical office setting. Required to stand; walk; crouch; or handle objects. Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Ability to sit and view computer screen for long periods of time. Personal Protection Equipment/Other OHSA Safety Requirements: Ensure the continued efforts and assist in achieving annual goals of health, safety, and environmental policies. Must be current with available OSHA/Safety Training provided by the Company. If required, must be able to work while wearing safety equipment such as hard hats, work boats, gloves, hearing protection, and others.

Pay is in the range of $76,400 - $92,000 per year.

The position is eligible for a 401(k) match and consideration for an annual bonus. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
