Primary Purpose
As an Import Logistics Analyst you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Univar Solutions' import trade activities. This includes customer service, order entry, billing and logistical coordination associated with our companies import activities to North America.
Key Deliverables:
Sales & Purchase Orders
  • Manage Sales orders - confirm price, develop quotes, product availability and lead time
  • Manager Purchase Orders - prepare purchase orders, place orders promptly and liaise with vendors to ensure on time shipping and delivery; coordinate with forwarder, steamship lines, Customs broker and other logistic service providers

Logistics Management
  • Verify and track freight to ensure timely shipping, communicate status and potential delays to internal stakeholders; arrange local delivery and additional services as required; review and create certificates of analysis as appropriate
  • Resolve shipment issues and nonconformances performing root cause analysis and collaborating with key stakeholders for best outcome
  • Custom Brokerage & Clearance - obtain, file and provide required documentation for entry, monitor agency clearance(s)

Supplier & Vendor Management
  • Build and sustain long-terms vendor, service provider and internal stakeholder partnerships

Operational Controls
  • Administrative - receive invoices, approve payments, create and code invoices
  • Collaborate with colleagues and field personnel to ensure compliance with all government agencies on import products

Education/Experience/Training:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, with preference for concentration in supply chain/logistics, international trade or economics
  • Min. 5+ years in global / international trade operations, including responsibility for import and/or export for North America locations. Experience in customer, freight forwarding, customs brokerage and import trading.
  • General understanding of purchasing & payment activities with ability to learn Univar Solutions industry, products, policies and procedures
  • Hazmat materials and international incoterms
  • Certifications in; NCBFAA Certifications (CCS, CES, MES), IATA, among others, is a plus.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
  • Demonstrated indirect leadership skills
  • Strong analytical skills & organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills in English
  • Ability to develop processes and training
  • Experienced in use of computer, MS office applications & SAP or equivalent ERP system, e-learning development a plus
