POSITION SUMMARY: The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing daily offshore and field operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production across all assets. This role provides leadership to field personnel, coordinates cross-functional activities, and drives timely resolution of operational issues to maximize production and asset value. The Operations Manager serves as a key communication link between field operations, engineering, supply chain, and exec

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Leadership & Daily Oversight

  • Lead and maintain consistent communication with direct reports across multiple operating areas, including Mobile Bay, East/Deepwater, Central/West, Construction, Supply Chain/Logistics, Measurement, and Production teams.
  • Monitor daily production performance across all fields and identify discrepancies, risks, or optimization opportunities.
  • Review and analyze daily production reports, including morning summaries, area reports, and field-level updates.
  • Ensure timely response to planned and unplanned downtime, coordinating with field leadership and engineering teams to restore production as quickly as possible.
  • Develop and execute action plans to bring impacted fields back online and maintain base operating levels.
  • Address personnel issues, performance concerns, and workforce planning needs.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to field supervisors and operational staff.

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain strong alignment with senior leadership, including the VP & General Manager and Asset Management teams, on operational performance and upcoming activities.
  • Communicate critical issues—such as major production outages, safety incidents, or environmental events—to executive leadership in a timely manner.
  • Foster collaboration across Health, Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory teams to ensure compliance and operational integrity.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with HSE leadership to address incidents, implement corrective actions, and mitigate operational risks.
  • Ensure all operations are conducted in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner with Reservoir, Production, and Facility Engineering teams to address production issues, evaluate downtime impacts, and optimize output.
  • Coordinate closely with Construction to plan and execute work scopes, minimizing operational disruption.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Logistics to ensure timely availability of materials, transportation, and equipment (e.g., vessels, helicopters, lift boats, expedited shipments).
  • Align with Marketing, Drilling & Completions, and Plug & Abandonment teams on operational priorities and scheduling.

Supply Chain & Financial Oversight

  • Review and approve procurement requests and purchase orders (e.g., ProcureIT).
  • Review and approve vendor invoices (e.g., OpenInvoice).
  • Ensure cost-effective use of resources while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Develop a strong understanding of labor costs and operational expense drivers, with a focus on Lease Operating Expense (LOE).
  • Partner closely with Human Resources and the COO to manage LOE labor expenses, including workforce planning, overtime management, and cost optimization initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university is required.
  • 10+ years of oil and gas operations experience, with offshore or multi-asset experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of production operations, logistics, and field execution.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to make operational decisions that align with financial and cost objectives.
  • Working knowledge of labor cost management, LOE structures, and workforce optimization strategies.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
