Reporting to the Technology Support Manager, the Mining Technology Implementation Specialist will provide expertise and ongoing technical support to assist the support and operations teams and customers on the installation and operation of Caterpillar Mining and Construction software and hardware technologies.
The primary function of the Mining Technology Implementation Specialist is to provide ongoing technical support to end-users and customers, as well as mentoring coworkers on the use and operation of Mining software and hardware technologies. In addition, this role will plan and schedule, as well as track progress to successful delivery on implementation timelines. This individual will work closely with our Project Managers, Technology Technicians, Technology Specialists, and customers to ensure completion of the planned work. Using a combination of expertise and coordination with Finning and Caterpillar, the successful candidate will provide troubleshooting and implementation support of the software and hardware for Cat Technologies including, but not limited to: Command, Health, Fleet, Terrain, Site Aware, DSS, and Trimble Heavy Civil technologies that is currently used at the customers mining and construction operations. Responsibilities may also include Finning technologies under the CUBIQ family of services.
This role will be primarily based out of our Fort McMurray, Alberta location 14x14 Days & Nights rotational schedule with requirements to be dispatched to our sites across Western Canada (Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories). Shift work and on- call schedule may be required and travel to site at 50% or more of working hours may be required as projects schedule dictates.Job Description:

Project Management and Execution 45%

  • Manage projects to help develop customer requirements and develop customer processes to work efficiently with the systems.

  • Monitor the data accuracy and integrity in the MineStar and Caterpillar systems.

  • Maintain a pro-active approach to all aspects of operational and personal safety.

  • Adhere and follow all the Mine Operator and Finning HSE policies and procedures.

  • Actively work with the Operations/Maintenance Teams to ensure Safety Procedures are up to date, relevant, and practical for the MineStar and Caterpillar technology products.

  • Interact with Implementation Project Managers, Technology Sales individuals, and technology technicians to help define and implement MineStar and Caterpillar technology systems.

  • Support the site Technology Product Specialists and Autonomous Truck Engineers as required.

  • Lessons learned as directed.

Customer Interaction/Technology Support 30%

  • Customer technical support for both Minestar and Caterpillar suite of products.

  • Provide implementation support and recommendations for both Minestar and Caterpillar suite of products.

  • Address incoming customer requests for technical assistance via telephone and in person.

  • Identify and troubleshoot product issues and take appropriate actions to repair and resolve issues in a cost-effective way, to minimize customer downtime.

  • Provide on-site technical support as required.

  • Champion improvement projects to improve the capabilities of the customer and Finning (Canada) as it relates to the MineStar.

Tracking and Documentation 25%

  • Establishing the baselines on what equipment installation/calibration/commissioning should look like from a calendar hour and labour hour perspective.

  • Central data/document repository; capturing details of hours on each activity of work in order to support the customer billing.

  • Measurement of actual times to install and commission technology on all equipment types.

  • Support the commercial proposal buildups based on experience in technology products and customer projects.

  • Develop understanding of the procedures to support customer requirements during challenges with the system.

  • Analyze and advise on system maintenance related components.

  • Leverage available information sources to improve Product Knowledge to support Customer Experience.

  • Develop best practices and documentation to support the Operations, Maintenance and Reliability of the Equipment and MineStar and Caterpillar technology systems.

  • Experience with various office programs MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Knowledgeable in GPS/GNSS systems

  • Experience with computer networking

  • Experience with or knowledge in database management systems

  • Knowledge in major fleet management systems including MineStar/Wenco/Modular is an asset

  • Civil CAD, Vulcan, Deswik or other Mine Engineering software experience
