The Phelps Group is proud to represent the TES Group Inc on their search for their next Project Manager of Engineered Solutions.

The Project Manager – Engineered Solutions is responsible for the successful execution of engineering-driven projects involving the optimization, design, and supply of fired and unfired pressure equipment for heavy industrial and power generation applications. The role spans both pre-award (proposal and front-end engineering) and post-award (project execution and delivery) phases and serves as a central coordination point between engineering, vendors, fabrication partners, and clients.

This position supports TES Group’s core markets, including:

• Canadian oil and gas and energy infrastructure

• U.S. oil and gas markets

• Power generation projects in Canada and the United States

• Select international engineered-equipment opportunities

Project Management & Execution

• Managing the full lifecycle of assigned projects, from initial handover through engineering, procurement, fabrication oversight, delivery, and closeout

• Establishing and maintaining project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and risk registers

• Acting as the primary point of accountability for scope, cost, schedule, and quality performance

• Coordinating internal engineering resources and external consultants to ensure engineering deliverables meet contractual and technical requirements

• Ensuring projects are executed in compliance with applicable codes, standards, client specifications, and internal governance requirements

• Managing change control, including scope growth, schedule impacts, and cost recovery where applicable

Engineered Equipment Focus

• Fired and unfired pressure equipment optimization

• Waste heat recovery systems (including economizers and heat recovery equipment)

• Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems and related emissions-control equipment

• Other engineered equipment supporting heavy industrial and power generation facilities

• The role requires sufficient technical depth to challenge assumptions, understand design trade-offs, and make informed commercial and execution decisions in collaboration with engineering leads.

Proposal Development & Front-End Engineering

• Overseeing the preparation of technical and commercial proposals for engineered solutions projects

• Coordinating preliminary and conceptual engineering activities to support accurate scoping and pricing

• Developing execution strategies and win strategies aligned with client objectives, risk tolerance, and TES Group’s commercial goals

• Preparing project budgets, pricing models, and commercial inputs in coordination with engineering, procurement, and management

• Supporting client clarifications, technical reviews, and proposal presentations as required

Vendor, Fabrication & Subcontract Management

• Soliciting and evaluating vendor and subcontractor pricing for engineered equipment, fabrication, and specialized services including installation where required

• Managing vendor technical alignment, commercial terms, and delivery schedules

• Coordinating fabrication oversight activities, including shop inspections and quality surveillance where required

• Ensuring subcontracted scopes align with project requirements, schedules, and cost targets

Client & Stakeholder Interface

• Acting as the primary project interface with clients for assigned scopes

• Managing client communications related to progress, risks, changes, and deliverables

• Supporting client technical reviews, design reviews, and milestone meetings

• Maintaining professional, solution-oriented relationships that reinforce TES Group’s reputation as a trusted technical partner

Commercial & Financial Accountability

• Managing project financial performance, including cost tracking, forecasting, and margin protection

• Identifying and mitigating commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle

• Supporting progress billing, change order preparation, and project closeout activities

• Ensuring accurate internal reporting of project status, risks, and financial outcomes

Health, Safety, Quality & Governance

• Ensuring projects are executed in alignment with TES Group’s health, safety, quality, and governance expectations

• Supporting a strong safety culture across engineering, fabrication, and field-related activities

• Ensuring quality requirements are clearly defined, implemented, and verified throughout execution

Qualifications & Experience

• Engineering degree or equivalent technical background (mechanical, chemical, or related discipline preferred)

• Demonstrated experience managing engineering-centric projects involving pressure equipment and industrial process systems

• Working knowledge of applicable pressure equipment codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, applicable jurisdictional requirements)

• Strong understanding of proposal development, front-end engineering, and commercial evaluation

• Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external vendors

• Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for client-facing roles

Role Characteristics

• High degree of autonomy with accountability for outcomes

• Balanced technical, commercial, and execution focus

• Requires sound judgment, structured thinking, and disciplined follow-through

• Occasional travel may be required to support clients, vendors, or fabrication activities
