Position Overview:Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm or 9:30 am - 6:00 pm
The Associate Trade Compliance Classification Specialist supports the execution of DigiKey's Import/Export Classification Program. This includes the review of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) and the Commerce Control List to accurately assign HTSUS values and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs). The Associate Trade Compliance Classification Specialist will review and evaluate item classifications to ensure total compliance with all U.S. Trade Regulations, as well as escalate transactions to the Sr. Trade Compliance Classification Specialist and/or Trade Compliance Management Team in accordance with U.S. law and internal company directives.
This role is based in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and will require a minimum of two days per week in the office and be available for projects in the office as needed.Responsibilities:
  • Supports adherence to company-wide import/export and global transportation policies, procedures, and controls by following established guidelines and highlighting potential issues to senior team members
  • Support import/export shipping activities
  • Applies established guidelines to support the classification of goods under U.S. import/export regulations with guidance from senior team members.
  • Maintain a current, comprehensive knowledge of all applicable U.S. Departments of Commerce and U.S. International Trade Commission regulations, policies, and practices including, but not limited to, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States and Commerce Control List.
  • Ensure all product flow meets U.S. and international trade compliance classification requirements and that document controls are in place to support full trade compliance.
  • Complete assigned classification and documentation tasks with attention to detail and escalate questions or discrepancies to senior team members..
  • Participate in internal and external product training events to maintain a current and comprehensive understanding of DigiKey's product lines.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in international trade, business, supply chain, engineering or related field (or an additional 4+ years' experience in lieu of degree)
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage large volumes of transactional data
  • Basic understanding of import/export processes and classifications or global supply chain operations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across teams
