Position Summary... What you'll do...Position Summary Provides strategic and technical leadership to define, build, and scale AI-powered content and media experiences across Walmart’s digital shopping platforms. As a Group Director, you will own a portfolio of initiatives that transform various shopping experiences through AI, immersive technologies, and scalable engineering systems, delivering differentiated, customer-first innovation at enterprise scale. This leader will drive long-term vision, influence organizational design, and partner globally to integrate advanced computer vision, generative AI, and content platforms into high-impact customer experiences. About the Team- The Content Experiences Organization inspires product discovery and drives purchase confidence through seamless, content-driven experiences that delight customers across their entire shopping journey. By expanding our rich media portfolio, leveraging advanced Gen AI, and scaling virtual try on, interactive social, and Extended Reality (XR) capabilities, we build intuitive and delightful retail experiences across 6 different pillars: Immersive Experiences, Virtual Try On Experiences, Social Experiences, XR Experiences, Content Generation/Evaluation Science, and Experiences Insights. The experiences incorporate cutting edge engineering, front end innovation, and data intelligence to redefine the future of modern commerce. What you'll do-
  • Establish and drive the multi-year technical roadmap for AI driven, rich-media content experiences across all Walmart screens, surfaces, and global operating regions.
  • Act as a key stakeholder in enterprise-level decision-making, influencing executive leadership on technology investments, priorities, and innovation areas
  • Identify and execute on technology opportunities that directly enhance product discovery, customer engagement, conversion, and customer trust through rich media and intelligent content.
  • Provide comprehensive ownership for the development, scaling, and global deployment of foundational capabilities, including:
    • Rich Media: Universal media player, interactive video, 360° product experiences, and advanced content delivery pipelines.
    • Immersive Commerce: Virtual Try-On (VTO) and spatial/XR shopping features.
    • Content Generation & Intelligence: Generative AI content creation, automated metadata enhancement based on Content Understanding, Content/Model Evaluation, and brand safety/moderation systems.
  • Architect and maintain resilient, high-performance, and globally consistent full-stack platforms that ensure operational excellence and reliability at Walmart scale.
  • Partner seamlessly with business, product, design, and data teams to translate overarching corporate priorities into scalable, unified technology solutions.
  • Collaborate with specialized AI research teams to successfully operationalize and productionize advanced models into enterprise systems.
  • Champion the adoption of generative AI, agentic systems, and computer vision across customer experiences to unlock next-generation automation, personalization, and efficiency.
  • Lead a global, multi-pillar engineering organization, driving strategic succession planning, talent development, and cross-functional alignment across international tech centers.
  • Direct, mentor, and develop senior engineering leaders while fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture anchored in accountability, innovation, and customer obsession.  
What you'll bring-
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (master’s preferred)
  • 20+ years of experience in software engineering, platform development, or AI-driven systems
  • 10+ years of experience leading leaders (managing managers) and large engineering organizations
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale engineering organizations ($500M+) scale or massive user bases) focused on rich media, XR, interactive video, or front-end commerce platforms.
  • Proven track record of delivering consumer-facing platforms at scale in eCommerce, media, or similar domains
  • Deep expertise in:
    • Frontend and full-stack engineering at scale
    • Distributed systems and platform architecture
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • AI/ML technologies including generative AI, computer vision and content understanding systems
    • Content/media systems and pipelines
  • Demonstrated success leading global, cross-functional organizations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building AI-powered shopping or content platforms
  • Experience with virtual try-on, AR, 3D and/or immersive retail technologies
  • Experience with creating Gen AI media at scale
  • Experience integrating AI/ML solutions into production at scale
  • Strong ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive enterprise initiatives

The annual salary range for this position is $254,000.00 - $481,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
