Ichra information

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working with ICHRA (Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements), and how can they be addressed?

Professionals managing ICHRA programs often encounter challenges such as ensuring employee understanding of benefit options, navigating compliance with IRS regulations, and coordinating with multiple health insurance carriers. To address these, it's important to provide clear, ongoing communication and education for employees, stay updated with legal requirements, and establish strong relationships with benefits administrators and insurance providers. Leveraging digital platforms and third-party administrators can also streamline administrative tasks and help ensure a smooth experience for both HR teams and employees.

Common Search & ComparisonYesYes

Ichra professionals focus on benefits administration and insurance processes within healthcare and corporate settings, while Registered Nurses provide direct patient care in clinical environments. Both roles require healthcare knowledge but differ significantly in credentials, work settings, and daily responsibilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an ICHRA (Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement) Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an ICHRA Specialist, you need a strong understanding of health benefits administration, IRS regulations, and compliance requirements, typically backed by experience in HR or employee benefits. Familiarity with benefits administration platforms, payroll systems, and HRIS software, as well as knowledge of Section 105 regulations and COBRA, is important. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and clear communication are essential soft skills for advising employers and supporting employees. These capabilities ensure accurate ICHRA plan implementation, regulatory compliance, and a positive benefits experience for organizations and their staff.

What is an ICHRA (Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement)?

An ICHRA, or Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement, is an employer-funded health benefit that allows businesses of any size to reimburse employees for individual health insurance premiums and qualified medical expenses tax-free. Instead of offering a traditional group health plan, employers set a monthly allowance that employees can use to purchase health insurance on the individual market. ICHRAs provide flexibility for both employers and employees and can help businesses control healthcare costs while meeting ACA requirements.

Job description

The Opportunity

Short and Speech Therapy Services is a clinician-owned practice in South Jersey — not a staffing agency. We're hiring a full-time, on-site SLP for our Camden school district partnership.

Why Clinicians Choose Us

- Paycheck you can count on — paid twice a month, all 12 months. No summer income gaps.

- $65,917–$79,742 total direct compensation (base salary + performance bonus + ICHRA healthcare allowance)

- $4,000 annual performance bonus — based on sustainable productivity, not burnout quotas

- 80 hours PTO available day one — 40 sick / 40 personal. No accruals, no waiting.

- Half-day Fridays — students dismissed early, you get dedicated planning and documentation time

- ICHRA healthcare — $450–$600/month toward your premiums and medical expenses ($5,400–$7,200/year)

- $250/year for CEUs or professional dues

W-2, Not 1099

We cover your FICA, unemployment, and workers' comp — so a 1099 offer at $75K can actually net you less than what we're paying. You keep more, and there's no tax-season panic.

Clinical Fellows: We Want You

We pair our Clinical Fellows 1:1 with a veteran, ASHA-certified SLP who oversees the clinical side of the practice. With us, you get extensive supervision, guided IEP training, and a clear track to a permanent salaried role. This is intentional mentorship from someone who’s actually done the job.

What You'll Need

- Master's in Speech-Language Pathology (or graduation date for CFs)

- NJ DOE Speech-Language Specialist Certification (or eligibility)

- Strong documentation skills and a genuine commitment to students
