Job Title: Shift Lead

Type: Full-time or Part-time


Position Overview:

We are seeking a friendly, efficient, and detail-oriented individual to join our team at Max's Best Ice Cream. This role primarily focuses on guest interaction, assisting with orders, supporting Ice Cream Associates and managing opening and closing store responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for exceptional customer service and a love for ice cream and sweet treats!


Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Greet guests warmly and answer any menu-related questions.
  • Assemble and serve valued guests all menu items for both dine-in and take out orders.
  • Expedite incoming orders from Ice Cream Associates to ensure quality control and efficient service
  • Assemble and serve valued guests all menu items for both dine-in and take out orders.
  • Serve delicious ice cream scoops, milkshakes, sundaes, floats, and other menu items with precision and care.
  • Prepare assembly stations for milkshake, sundae, and float creation, including portioning and setting pars for the upcoming shift.
  • Handle special requests or dietary restrictions with attentiveness and professionalism.
  • Verify customer age for alcoholic beverages and ensure compliance with all legal alcohol service guidelines.

Order Fulfillment and Transactions

  • Take guest orders efficiently and accurately and promptly deliver guest orders and provide receipts with a smile.
  • Process guest purchases using the point-of-sale (POS) system, handling cash and card transactions.
  • Turn in cash till and cash out to supervisor at the end of each shift.

Inventory and Vendor Orders

  • Receive, check, and organize orders from vendors to ensure proper stock levels.
  • Manage inventory levels during service to help Ice Cream Associates quickly fulfill guest orders
  • Notify and manage inventory needs or discrepancies in shipments.

Cleanliness and Maintenance

  • Maintain and clean and order store - both front and back of house - at all times.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the counter area and assembly stations, equipment, and utensils throughout the shift.
  • Restock serving supplies, such as cones, napkins, and utensils, as needed.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure food handling standards are met.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Physical Fitness: Capability to stand for extended periods as well as bend and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly during shifts.
  • Previous experience working in an ice cream shop and ice cream assembly.
  • Previous experience in guest-facing roles.
  • A collaborative attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Clear verbal skills to interact with customers and teammates effectively.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time in a busy environment.
  • Comfortable using a POS system (training provided).
