Job description

Title: Business Intelligence Developer

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Can be hybrid / on-site)

Hire Type: Contract

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties listed below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be interpreted as an exhaustive list of responsibilities.

  • Design and develop Business Intelligence solutions for operational and analytical reporting.
  • Develop roadmap for an enterprise-wide BI reporting and analytics platform.
  • Support analytical and operational reporting needs across all functions at the SCRRA.
  • Design, develop, document and implement overall BI architecture, including ETL processes, data-integration tasks and reporting solutions. Design and develop data models for the data warehouse.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, integrity, and reliability throughout the agency.
  • Design and develop complex integration solutions spanning internal applications, external data sources, and the data warehouse.
  • Analyzes data and measures quality, investigates gaps and discrepancies, and develops and produces related data analysis reports and studies.
  • Design and deploy automated delivery mechanisms for reports both within the agency and to external stakeholders.
  • Interact with business clients and requestors to analyze requirements, define, size, cost, and configure proposed solutions.
  • Research and troubleshoot issues reported by the business or information technology team.
  • Build and deploy the PTC Lab by deploying (Servers, VMWare Virtual Machines, Corgi, MR PAX, ITCM - hosts, waysides, Locos, Wabtec WSRS, IBM Rational Team Concert, Wabtrax applications).
  • Simplify complex PTC processes to increase reliability and usability.
  • Improve reliability of the Train Simulators environment by upgrading Dell Workstations, Cory''s Thunder Software, connecting to the SCRRA Fiber-Optic backbone, and abandoning antiquated AT&T DSL.
  • Integrate logical and effective user workflow.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Information Systems, Business Information Systems or related field.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of work experience in data warehouse design, architecture, and development.
  • A combination of training, with a minimum of an Associate Degree and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, may be considered when determining minimum qualifications. Advanced relevant coursework may also substitute for a portion of the required experience.

Knowledge of:

  • SCRRA Public transportation system, processes, operation and culture
  • Waterfall and rapid-application-development software development life cycles, and DW concepts
  • SAP business object tools and various modules
  • Advanced Excel and Java
  • Oracle and Linux
  • IBM Rational Team Concert Eclipse Client
  • Windows servers

Ability to:

  • Write and debug complex ETL programs and SQL statements. Provide upkeep and maintenance.
  • Monitor integrity of data warehouse
  • Conduct ETL and ad hoc query performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and support
  • Develop and maintain ETL (extract, transform and load) solution using Informatica, Oracle Pl/SQL and other techniques
  • Develop enterprise-wide BI reporting and analytic platform
  • Design and deploy automated delivery mechanisms for reports within agency and to external stakeholders
  • Recommend appropriate technologies
  • Work independently in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
