An IAM (Identity and Access Management) Project Manager oversees projects related to the implementation, upgrade, or maintenance of identity and access management systems within an organization. Their responsibilities include planning project timelines, coordinating with technical and business teams, managing budgets, and ensuring that security requirements and compliance standards are met. They play a crucial role in protecting the organization's digital assets by ensuring that only authorized users have appropriate access to systems and data. To thrive as an IAM Project Manager, you need expertise in identity and access management principles, project management methodologies, and a relevant degree or certification (such as PMP or CISSP). Familiarity with IAM platforms (e.g., Okta, SailPoint), risk assessment tools, and security frameworks is essential. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills help you coordinate cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders effectively. What are some common challenges IAM project managers face when implementing new identity and access management systems?

IAM Project Managers often navigate complex organizational structures and legacy systems when rolling out new identity and access management solutions.
