Job description

We are looking for a Data Security Analyst to join our Information Security Architecture team in Philadelphia, PA or Overland Park, KS (Hybrid). This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge data protection and security initiatives leveraging Microsoft Purview, Microsoft 365, and AI-enabled technologies. You'll play a key role in defining what "good" looks like for data protection while partnering closely with engineers to bring those standards to life. The team consists of 4 Security Architects and an IAM Analyst, reporting to the Sr. Manager, Cyber Security, and is focused on securing enterprise data across modern collaboration platforms. If you have experience with Microsoft Purview, data classification, and DLP frameworks, we'd love to connect.

About You - experience, education, skills, and accomplishments

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Cyber Security, Business, or equivalent, relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in cyber security, data protection, or security operations
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview or similar data protection tools
  • 1+ years of familiarity with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and collaboration platforms (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams)

It would be great if you also have . . .

  • Exposure to Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) or Insider Risk tools
  • Experience supporting data leakage or oversharing investigations
  • Basic PowerShell or scripting experience
  • Familiarity with privacy regulations and data handling requirements
  • Industry experience in banking or healthcare
  • Advanced degree (Master's preferred but not required)

What will you be doing in this role?

  • Support the identification of sensitive data at rest, in motion, and in use across Microsoft platforms
  • Configure and maintain Microsoft Purview features including data classification, sensitive data types, sensitivity labels, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies
  • Assist in assessing and managing data exposure risks related to Copilot, AI features, and automated workflows
  • Implement data protection policy changes based on guidance from Security Architecture and Privacy teams
  • Monitor data protection alerts and signals, investigate issues, and escalate findings appropriately
  • Participate in data security incidents and investigations, assisting with evidence gathering and remediation actions
  • Provide configuration-level guidance to engineering and business teams on secure handling of sensitive data
  • Execute recurring operational tasks, validation checks, and control reviews
  • Contribute to runbooks, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation

Product you will be developing

You will support enterprise-wide data protection and governance initiatives leveraging Microsoft Purview and Microsoft 365 platforms. This includes safeguarding sensitive data, enabling secure collaboration, and supporting emerging AI technologies like Copilot by ensuring proper data classification and protection standards are in place. The work is highly visible and directly impacts how the organization securely manages and scales its data environment.

About the Team

The Information Security Architecture team is a high-impact, collaborative group of 5 (4 Architects + 1 IAM Analyst) that partners closely with IT Engineering teams and business stakeholders. This team is responsible for defining security standards and enabling secure execution across the enterprise. The culture emphasizes ownership, innovation, and practical problem-solving, with strong alignment between architecture and engineering to deliver scalable security solutions.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, primarily working core business hours in your time zone, with flexibility to adjust to various global time zones as needed

This is a hybrid position working in the office a minimum of 2 days a week.
