About the Role

The Shift Lead serves as the on-shift leader responsible for creating exceptional customer experiences, supporting team development, and ensuring operational excellence throughout the day.

This role is often the first step into leadership at Dockside. Successful Shift Leads lead by example, provide real-time coaching, hold teammates accountable to standards, and help create a positive, high-performing store culture.

The ideal candidate combines strong customer service skills with operational discipline, emotional intelligence, and a genuine desire to help others grow.

What Success Looks Like

Successful Shift Leads:

  • Create an environment where customers feel welcomed, informed, and cared for

  • Coach Sales Associates in real time to improve service, product knowledge, and execution

  • Maintain composure and professionalism during busy or challenging situations

  • Help build trust, accountability, and teamwork within the store

  • Execute operational standards consistently while balancing customer needs and business priorities

  • Act as a reliable communication bridge between the store team and Store Manager

  • Lead by example and embody Dockside's mission, values, and guiding principles

Key Responsibilities
  • Acts with integrity, honesty, and knowledge to promote the culture, values, and mission of Dockside

  • Maintains a calm demeanor and leadership presence during periods of high volume or unusual events

  • Delivers exceptional customer service and supports the team in delivering a consistent Dockside experience

  • Provides clear, respectful, and timely coaching and feedback to Sales Associates during shifts

  • Recognizes opportunities to improve team performance and communicates observations to store leadership

  • Anticipates customer and operational needs by continuously evaluating the sales floor and store environment

  • Executes store operations during scheduled shifts, including opening and closing responsibilities

  • Handles daily cash management operations with accuracy and attention to detail

  • Participates in inventory receiving, stocking, merchandising, and inventory management activities

  • Ensures compliance with Dockside policies, cash handling procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

  • Supports store leadership in executing labor plans, shift coverage, and operational priorities

  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality

  • Follows all health, safety, security, and regulatory guidelines

Preferred Qualifications
  • Must be 21 years of age

  • 2+ years of retail, hospitality, customer service, or leadership experience

  • Previous experience supervising, training, coaching, or mentoring others preferred

  • Experience handling cash, inventory, or operational processes in a fast-paced environment

  • Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer experiences and build customer loyalty

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain active throughout an entire shift
