Job Summary

NorthShire Inc., a landscaping/construction company in Nashua NH, is seeking a skilled Field Equipment Manager to oversee our equipment fleet. This full-time (or part-time) role involves operating, maintaining, and managing a diverse range of equipment, including loaders of varying sizes, mini excavators, Bobcats with various skid steer attachments, trucks (F-350s & F-550s), trailers, Finn bark blower and hydroseeder, lawn mowers/landscape maintenance equipment, bark mulch blowers, hydroseeding units, plows including Metal Pless, Snow Wolf, Snow-ex, etc., salt spreaders (Sno-Way), and brine equipment for snow plowing and ice management. The Field Equipment Manager will create and follow maintenance schedules, utilize technology such as Fleetio for equipment tracking and management, transport equipment to and from job sites or rental customers, determine whether repairs can be handled in-house or require professional service, delegate basic tasks such as lawn mower blade sharpening and oil changes, and work as a sub-contractor for tasks such as irrigation pipe pulling, digging sono tubes for decks, loader/skid steer work, excavation, bark blowing, and hydroseeding. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, highly organized, experienced in operating and maintaining equipment for landscaping and snow management operations, capable of serving as a snow plow operator using loaders, plows, salt spreaders, and brine equipment, and able to work with others to delegate tasks effectively.
Responsibilities
  • Operate equipment (loaders of varying sizes, mini excavators, Bobcats with various skid steer attachments, trucks (F-350s & F-550s), mowers, Finn bark blower and hydroseeder, plows including Metal Pless, Snow Wolf, Snow-ex, etc., salt spreaders (Sno-Way), brine equipment), Toro mowers, safely and efficiently for landscaping, snow plowing, ice management, brush cutting, mulch blowing, and hydroseeding tasks
  • Perform and track routine maintenance on all equipment, including oil changes, filter replacements, blade sharpening, snow plow component checks (including Metal Pless, Snow Wolf, Snow-ex), salt spreader calibration (Sno-Way), brine equipment maintenance, and mulch blower hose inspections
  • Create and follow maintenance schedules using technology such as MaintainX to track and ensure timely upkeep
  • Leverage MaintainX for equipment tracking, maintenance logging, and operational efficiency
  • Work with team members to delegate basic tasks such as lawn mower blade sharpening and oil changes to optimize efficiency
  • Work as a sub-contractor for tasks including irrigation pipe pulling, digging sono tubes for decks, loader/skid steer work, excavation, bark blowing, and hydroseeding
  • Diagnose equipment issues and decide whether repairs can be completed in-house or require external professional services
  • Coordinate and execute drop-off and pick-up of equipment to job sites or rental customers, including sites for snow plowing, ice management, brush cutting, mulch blowing, and hydroseeding
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, repair logs, and equipment usage within MaintainX
  • Ensure equipment, including plows (Metal Pless, Snow Wolf, Snow-ex), salt spreaders (Sno-Way), brine equipment, brush cutting attachments, Finn bark blower and hydroseeder, is clean, fueled, and ready for operation
  • Manage trailer transport and ensure compliance with safety and DOT regulations (as needed for larger equipment moves)
  • Collaborate with the team to prioritize equipment availability for landscaping, snow plowing, ice management, skid steer brush cutting, bark mulch blowing, and hydroseeding operations
  • Maintain a safe and organized storage area for equipment and tools, utilizing the indoor heated shop
Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED required; technical training or certification in equipment maintenance preferred
  • Licenses Required:
    • Drivers License (CDL not required)
    • *Massachusetts Hydraulics License required (see addendum)
    • *Green Snow Pro Certification required (see addendum)
  • Proven experience operating and maintaining equipment for landscape maintenance, excavation, commercial snow plowing, ice management, skid steer brush cutting, bark mulch blowing, and hydroseeding (loaders of varying sizes, mini excavators, Bobcats with various skid steer attachments, trucks (F-350s & F-550s), mowers, Finn bark blower and hydroseeder, mulch blowers, hydroseeding units, plows including Metal Pless, Snow Wolf, Snow-ex, salt spreaders (Sno-Way), brine equipment, etc.)
  • Excavation and hardscape construction experience a plus
  • Ability to assist and/or fill in for "equipment heavy" jobs, perform one-man operations impeccably
  • Strong mechanical skills with the ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues, including snow plow hydraulics (Metal Pless, Snow Wolf, Snow-ex), salt spreader systems (Sno-Way), brine equipment, brush cutting attachments, mulch blower systems, and hydroseeding pumps
  • Experience using fleet management software such as Fleetio for maintenance tracking and equipment management preferred
  • Ability to create and follow maintenance schedules and leverage technology to optimize equipment performance
  • Ability to work with others to delegate basic tasks such as lawn mower blade sharpening and oil changes effectively
  • Ability to assess repair needs and make cost-effective decisions about in-house vs. outsourced repairs
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, experience towing trailers is required, CDL is a plus
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills for maintaining digital maintenance logs, including proficiency with Fleetio
  • Strong understanding of landscaping and snow management operations preferred
Work Environment
  • Part-time or full-time role with flexible scheduling
  • Work primarily at NorthShire’s indoor heated shop and job sites, with occasional travel for equipment delivery/pick-up
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions, including winter weather for snow plowing and ice management, rugged terrain for brush cutting and excavation, and dust/debris for mulch blowing and hydroseeding
  • Provided with necessary tools and access to maintenance resources, including Fleetio software
