Position Overview:

This exempt role reports to the Architectural Specification & Product Manager. Responsible for job functions as part of the product management, fabric testing, new product development, and research and development team. Interacts with Customer Service, Sales, Marketing and Manufacturing on product information and assists the Architectural Specification & Product Manager in developing programs related to product analysis, product development, and product testing.

What you'll do:

  • Coordinate, execute, and provide reporting for testing services performed for 3rd parties.
  • Interpret and provide testing report summaries from internal and external testing for fabric qualification.
  • Documentation of Test Results in fabric records and ProPhase system.
  • Ownership and responsibility for utilization, maintenance, and functionality of all testing methods, standards, processes, and equipment.
  • Maintain testing report templates and update as necessary.
  • Research, suggest, justify, and onboard new equipment needs.
  • Research and suggest new tests methods and/or labs that may be beneficial to the marketing of our products.
  • Maintain and update the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for fabric testing.
  • Support physical fabric qualification testing as a back-up.
  • Track and manage compliance for all external tests. Catalog all test results with test reports no older than 4 years.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to sales, customer service, and customers.
  • Support Architectural Specification & Product Manager on day-to-day tasks.
  • Maintaining active certificates, such as C2C, GreenGuard, HPDs, and Declare labels.
  • Monitor regulatory changes, research relevant legislation, and provide regulatory updates.
  • Organization of R&D records, sampling, and competition library. โ€ข Familiarity with competitive product lines, fabric matches, and opportunities for product leverage.
  • Maintain and update competitor product comparison file.
  • Lead R&D trials in manufacturing.
  • Coordinate AERC and fenestration testing for Mermet's Fenestration Lab.
  • Lead Product Management updates for bi-weekly PM meetings and monthly operations meetings.
  • Report on monthly NPD sales trends and sample distribution. All other duties as assigned


Who are you:

  • Four-year college degree preferred, ideally a textile degree or related field.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment.
  • High proficiency with MS Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Multi-tasking abilities essential.
  • Onsite position, reside in the local Spartanburg, South Carolina area.

Work Schedule & Travel:

โ€ข 40+ hours per week, M โ€“ F, beginning between 7:00am โ€“ 8:00am.

โ€ข Ability to travel up to 10% of the time for training, trade shows, meet with customers and vendors.
