Job description

Position Title: Contingent HR Assistant (Fully Remote)
This is not a regular full-time position. Hours vary based on business need.
This is a contingent HR Assistant position supporting a high volume BPO/call center environment. Due to the nature of the business, staffing and HR support needs can fluctuate daily. As such, this role requires a high degree of schedule flexibility and responsiveness. This is not a company benefits eligible or 1099 eligible role.
We're seeking candidates who are:
  • Willing to work during volume spikes, especially during peak times such as large-scale hiring events, onboarding/offboarding surges or needing additional HR team support
  • Available on a short/limited notice basis, with a 2-3 week notice for most planned events. There are times where unexpected support could be needed and only 24 hours' notice may be provided
  • Comfortable with inconsistent hours, including weeks with limited or no scheduled work, and others with up to 40 hours in a week
  • Hours of availability - Generally must be available between normal business hours of 8:00am - 6:00pm ET

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly dependable and adaptable Contingent HR Assistant to provide flexible, as-needed support to our Human Resources team. This role is ideal for an HR professional who thrives in a high-volume environment and enjoys stepping in during peak periods, coverage needs, or special projects. This position plays a critical part in maintaining HR continuity and service excellence across key functions.
Why Join Us as a Contingent HR Assistant?
  • Experience: Exposure to a variety of HR operations and special projects
  • Contribution: Be part of a high-impact HR team that values excellence, trust, and people-first service
  • Culture: We promote collaboration, integrity, and continuous learning

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide as-needed support for core HR functions including onboarding, offboarding, file audits, and employee inquiries
  • Assist with data entry and HRIS updates in UltiPro UKG
  • Respond to assigned HR tickets, emails, and routine employee requests
  • Support LOA tracking and documentation under HR supervision
  • Prepare templates and forms for HR team use
  • Help maintain confidentiality and compliance with applicable labor laws
  • Jump in to support special projects or coverage for vacations, peak workload, or emergent needs
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Payroll, IT, and other departments to ensure seamless execution of HR processes and issue resolution

Qualifications
Required:
  • 2+ years of experience in Human Resources
  • Available on a short/limited notice basis
  • Must be willing and able to accept and work at least 90% of the hours offered.
    • Due to the contingent nature of this role, scheduling is based on business demand. While total hours are not guaranteed, when hours are offered, the candidate is expected to maintain consistent availability and work at least 90% of those offered shifts unless there is a valid exception (e.g., pre-approved time off, emergencies).
  • Working knowledge of basic HR practices and employment laws (FMLA, ADA, wage & hour, etc.)
  • Experience using HR systems
  • Strong organizational, communication, and follow-through skills
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all matters
  • Comfortable with flexible scheduling and supporting HR virtually
  • Remote (work from home) experience
