Health, Safety & Environmental Director – STANDARD JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Health, Safety & Environmental Director


PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The HSE Director is responsible for leading, developing, implementing, and continuously improving the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs for 4-Horn Management and the companies it supports. This position ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a proactive culture of safety and continuous improvement across all business operations.

The HSE Director serves as the primary authority and point of contact for all HSE-related matters and works closely with executive leadership, management teams, and field personnel to establish organizational safety objectives and performance standards.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and management of comprehensive HSE programs across various industries and operational environments.
  • Direct and oversee internal and external HSE audits, inspections, and compliance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement health, safety and environmental (HSE) strategies and action plans that define and ensure commitment to a proactive HSE culture.
  • Auditing, analyzing and reporting HSE performance and writing HSE performance/compliance reports.
  • Assesses and refines the HSE processes and procedures (as needed) to assure that they remain effective and continue to fully meet OSHA requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with HSE legislation and keeping up to date with regulations and legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with FMCSA/DOT regulations for drivers and vehicles
  • Lead incident investigations and corrective/preventive action development.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee HSE training programs for employees, supervisors, and management personnel at all levels.
  • Provide technical guidance and support regarding safety, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, risk management, and emergency response.
  • Coordinate with operational leadership to integrate HSE requirements into daily business activities and project planning.
  • Special projects as required and other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum: Associates Degree in a related field and 5-7 years Safety experience
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Must have strong computer skills including excellent MS Office background
  • Preferred Data Base Knowledge: DISA, Samara, Avetta, ISNetworld
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently, prioritize and accomplish deadlines.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment to complete department assigned projects
  • Must have excellent problem solving skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and organized.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work on many different projects at one time.
