Job description

Mission

Lead safe, highโ€‘quality commissioning of gridโ€‘scale renewable substationsโ€”driving startup, reliability, and onโ€‘time energization across wind, solar, and battery storage assets.

Engagement Snapshot
  • Contract Type: 1โ€‘year (Wโ€‘2)
  • Capacity: Program Manager for commissioning/startup and operational turnover; portfolio scope
  • Reporting Line: Project Manager / Commissioning Director
  • Work Location: Onโ€‘site at substation (site provided). Per diem available.
Accountabilities
  • Execute commissioning with uncompromising adherence to safety and quality policies.
  • Coordinate EPC field teams, OEM startup personnel, thirdโ€‘party commissioning firms, and plant operations during startup.
  • Deliver reliable operational turnover with minimal earlyโ€‘operation downtime.
  • Meet contractual obligations, including Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement (LGIA) deliverables with the local utility.
  • Align with Transmission Operators and Independent System Operators to secure energization dates.
  • Direct the clientโ€™s onโ€‘site commissioning staff.
  • Collaborate with designated site safety, engineering, and quality stakeholders.
Core Competencies
  • Electrical construction/commissioning practices; NEC and NFPA proficiency.
  • SCADA integration and troubleshooting.
  • E&I controls/instrumentation installation, startup, and troubleshooting.
  • Protection & Controls implementation and diagnostics.
  • Drawing reviews, QC inspections, and progress reporting.
  • Supplier and thirdโ€‘party management.
  • Leadership of direct reports and team development.
  • Schedule literacy and planning acumen.
Preferred Experience
  • 15+ years of onโ€‘site support for renewable generation construction, startup, and commissioning.
  • 3+ years with an EPC on renewable construction startup and commissioning.
  • Strong partnering history with engineering on technical resolutions.
  • Experience collaborating with construction on constructability, schedule, and cost.
