AND JOB PURPOSE

The HR Generalist supports the achievement of business objectives by implementing human resources policies, programs, and practices for the Pasadena site, with responsibility for recruiting, employee relations, benefits support, employee development, payroll support, community relations, and HR compliance. The role operates in a manufacturing environment that requires consistent HR service delivery, timely response to employee and leadership needs, compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements, and support for business performance through effective people practices.


How the Role fits In:
This role reports to the HR Manager and serves as a key HR resource for employees, supervisors, site leadership, Finance/Accounting, Corporate HR, and external candidates or community stakeholders. The HR Generalist provides day-to-day HR support, helps ensure fair and consistent interpretation of policies and procedures, supports workforce planning and recruiting, assists with payroll and workforce reporting, and contributes to the effective implementation of HR programs across the Pasadena site.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
SHE Stewardship

  • Maintain safety as the highest priority and abide by all INEOS safety policies and procedures.
  • Understand and promote the INEOS "20 Principles of Safety", assuring that others are aware of safe working practices and promote the safety concepts of "Coaching for Safety" and "Stop Work".
  • Promote safety and safe actions through communication such as discussing safety with employees/contractors before job task, during meetings, and as opportunities arise to promote safety to the fullest extent possible.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulatory requirements and strive to meet internal SHE objectives.
  • Complete training requirements as outlined in the annual training schedule.

Accountabilities
Advise and counsel leaders and employees on employee relations matters, policy interpretation, pay and benefits questions, and day-to-day HR issues.
Support fair and consistent investigations, documentation, coaching, counseling, and performance management activities.
Drive recruiting efforts to attract and onboard high-caliber talent, including coordinating candidate and hiring manager activity, supporting interviews, and facilitating new hire orientation.
Ensure required policy reviews, onboarding activities, and computer-based training are completed timely for new employees.
Prepare and maintain internal and external reports related to salary, employee demographics, FTEs, manpower data, and other workforce information.
Support annual compensation survey analysis and work closely with the HR Manager on salary proposals, recommendations, and related workforce analysis.
Provide payroll support as needed, including assisting with bi-weekly payroll processing, preparing payroll-related reports for Finance and HR, and remaining current on payroll processes and procedures.
Administer random drug testing requirements and support compliance with applicable employment laws, regulations, INEOS guidelines, and HR programs.
Maintain accurate and current HR documentation, including job descriptions, employee records, reporting data, and other HR-related information.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or similar degree required; equivalent additional relevant experience in lieu of degree may be considered.
PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
Minimum of ten years of HR experience required, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
Technical skills
Strong computer skills with exceptional Microsoft Office proficiency.
Power BI experience desirable.
HRIS experience - Workday required.
Broad knowledge of employment statutes and regulations, including COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and related federal and state requirements.

Behavioural skills
Comfortable interacting with employees at all levels of the organization.
Able to lead change, influence outcomes, and provide coaching and consultation as needed.
Demonstrates strong attention to detail, accuracy, and timely follow-up on unresolved issues.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
