How will this role impact First Command?

The HCM Analyst supports the organization’s Back Office Transformation initiatives, including the implementation and optimization of the Human Capital Management (HCM) platform. This role focuses on business process analysis, requirements gathering, system design support, testing coordination, and cross-functional alignment.

The role will  partner closely with the Sr. HR Systems Specialist, HR, Finance, Payroll, IT/BIS, and operational stakeholders to design and enable scalable, future-state processes that improve efficiency, data transparency, and employee experience.

What will you do in this role?

  • Document current-state HR, payroll, and workforce processes across departments.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with HR, Finance, Payroll, and field leadership.
  • Translate business needs into functional requirements and user stories.
  • Support future-state process design aligned to transformation objectives.
  • Identify automation and workflow optimization opportunities
  • Partner with system owners and BIS to support configuration decisions.
  • Coordinate and facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Develop testing scripts and validate that system functionality aligns with documented requirements.
  • Assist in data validation efforts during implementation and upgrades (does not own production data integrity).
  • Track issues, document resolutions, and escalate as needed.
  • Design reporting requirements to support leadership decision-making.
  • Partner with the Sr. HR Systems Specialist to enhance dashboards and reporting capabilities.
  • Analyze workflow performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support workforce data initiatives tied to transformation milestones.

Skills & Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required

Work Experience

  • 4+ years in business analysis, HR systems support, or enterprise system implementation
  • Experience supporting HCM or ERP implementations
  • Demonstrated experience with process documentation and cross-functional collaboration

Certifications              

  • Business Analysis Certification (CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA) preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of enterprise ERP and/or HCM systems and how workforce data integrates with finance structures (e.g., payroll to general ledger, cost centers, organizational hierarchies).
  • Understanding of HR functional workflows (hire-to-retire lifecycle) and their downstream financial impact.
  • Familiarity with system implementation lifecycles (discovery, design, build, test, deploy, optimize).
  • Basic understanding of data governance, internal controls, and audit considerations within enterprise systems.
  • Strong analytical and process-mapping capabilities
  • Ability to translate business needs into structured requirements
  • Effective stakeholder facilitation skills
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, evolving environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think systematically across HR, Payroll, and Finance domains.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive workforce and financial data.
