Job description

We are hiring a Hadoop / HPE MapR Engineer for a 12+ month contract opportunity in Charlotte, NC with hybrid flexibility. In this role, you will help shape and support large-scale enterprise data platforms, working with HPE MapR and Hadoop technologies that power critical business operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex platform challenges in a high-impact environment. You will work on enterprise-scale clusters, partner with experienced teams on performance and reliability initiatives, and contribute to systems that support large-volume data workloads. Contract Duration: 12+ Months
Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, big data, data platform, or infrastructure engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Hadoop distributions, specifically HPE MapR
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, data storage, and cluster computing concepts
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix system administration
  • Experience with at least one programming or scripting language: Python, Java, Scala, or Bash
  • Working knowledge of Apache Spark and batch/stream processing paradigms
  • Proven experience supporting production, enterprise-scale clusters with high availability requirements
  • Experience troubleshooting complex issues in large-scale environments
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, or similar

  • Experience with automation, scripting, or infrastructure support in large distributed environments
  • Exposure to data platform security, governance, and compliance best practices
  • Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, and root cause analysis for cluster-based systems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, infrastructure, and stakeholder teams
