Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Compliance Specialist supports the Affordable Housing Compliance team by maintaining records, reviewing files, tracking certifications, and preparing reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This role assists with audits, manages documentation systems, and coordinates with on-site teams and stakeholders to support accurate and timely compliance processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for providing support for the Indigo Living Affordable Housing Compliance team by helping to produce weekly/monthly/annual reports to a wide variety of stakeholders in and outside of our organization, including local PHAs, the Iowa Finance Authority, syndicates, owners, and investors.
  • Maintains office, clerical, filing and record keeping systems.
  • Maintains documents, property management software, and reporting essential to compliance, management, and the on-site teams, including property management software, and reporting in local and state agency systems.
  • Maintains software tracking in various affordable housing programs including special programs and designations of the households, such as victims of domestic violence, handicap, and lower income set-asides.
  • Maintains a log to track the submission, approvals, and denials of certifications for our different affordable housing programs.
  • Responsible for reviewing applicant and resident files to support compliance team in the processing of file certifications. Follows up with on-site team regarding further questions and necessary items.
  • Responsible for ordering, filing, tracking, and maintaining original records for affordable housing leases and certifications for all affordable housing communities.
  • Assists with auditing of files and preparation for various city, state, and investor audits.
  • Responsible for the design and production of compliance training materials.
  • Monitors and directs incoming and outgoing correspondence with our affordable housing communities, on-site staff, and various stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in business, accounting, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Two years minimum experience in affordable property management preferred.
  • Two years minimum experience with Yardi Affordable Housing software preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.

The salary range for this position is $ 23.00 - 26.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
