Position: Estate Engineer
Location: Palm Beach, Florida (Live-Out) Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $130-150,000 DOE + fully covered M/D/V + discretionary bonus + 401(k) with match + PTO
Schedule: Typical hours are either 7:00 AM-3:00/4:00 PM or 9:00 AM-5:00/6:00 PM.
Position Overview:
A distinguished Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) family is seeking an experienced, hands-on Estate Engineer to oversee the maintenance, operation, and repair of their luxury estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
The Estate Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of all building systems, equipment, and infrastructure while maintaining the estate in impeccable, guest-ready condition. The successful candidate will possess exceptional technical expertise, strong organizational skills, excellent judgment, and a proactive, service-oriented mindset. This role requires flexibility, discretion, and the ability to respond quickly to the evolving needs of the household.
Key Responsibilities
Property & Building Maintenance
  • Perform daily inspections of all interior and exterior areas of the estate to identify maintenance needs.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and oversee all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, irrigation, lighting, security, and other household systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance programs to ensure all equipment operates efficiently.
  • Perform general repairs including carpentry, painting, drywall, hardware installation, and miscellaneous maintenance projects.
  • Ensure all buildings, structures, and grounds remain in pristine condition at all times.
  • Coordinate and oversee seasonal maintenance projects and property improvements.
Systems & Equipment Management
  • Monitor and maintain all estate equipment and infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and respond promptly to maintenance emergencies.
  • Coordinate with specialized contractors for repairs requiring licensed professionals.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, equipment records, warranties, and service schedules.
  • Recommend improvements and capital projects to enhance estate operations.
Vendor & Contractor Coordination
  • Liaise with vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Supervise onsite work to ensure projects are completed on schedule and to the family's standards.
  • Verify quality of workmanship and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Estate Operations Support
  • Maintain the estate in a constant state of readiness for family, guests, and special events.
  • Receive packages and deliveries.
  • Assist with furniture moving, event preparation, and general estate support as needed.
  • Run errands and provide driving assistance when requested.
  • Respond to emergency service calls outside of regular business hours when necessary.
Communication & Reporting
  • Provide daily updates to the Estate Manager and House Manager regarding completed work, ongoing projects, and maintenance priorities.
  • Communicate maintenance recommendations and anticipated repairs proactively.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation.
Qualifications
Required
  • Extensive experience as an Estate Engineer, Chief Engineer, Facilities Manager, or similar role supporting luxury private estates or high-end residential properties.
  • Advanced knowledge of:
    • Electrical systems
    • Plumbing
    • HVAC systems
    • Carpentry
    • General construction and property maintenance
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience managing vendors and outside contractors.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and move furniture and equipment when needed.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
