Convene is looking for skilled A1 Audio Engineers to join our expanding production team in New York City. This position offers part-time to full-time hours on a pre-scheduled shift basis.

The A1 Audio Engineer is responsible for managing and operating all aspects of audio production to ensure we deliver an excellent meeting, conference, and workday experience to our clients. This includes setting up, configuring, and operating sound systems, as well as ensuring high-quality audio experiences for our guests. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in audio engineering, a keen ear for sound, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Audio Setup and Operation: Set up, test, and operate audio equipment for live events, including microphones, speakers, mixing consoles, and playback devices.
  • Sound Quality Management: Ensure optimal sound quality during events by adjusting audio levels, equalization, and other parameters as needed.
  • Troubleshooting: Quickly identify and resolve audio issues during events to minimize disruptions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with event coordinators, production teams, and other staff to understand audio requirements and deliver exceptional audio experiences.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain audio equipment to ensure it is in good working condition. Perform routine checks and repairs as needed.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to other team members and clients regarding audio equipment and setups.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of audio setups, configurations, and equipment inventory.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all staff and guests.

 

What We Look For:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an A1 Audio Engineer or similar role in a hospitality or events setting.
  • Proficiency in operating audio equipment, including mixing consoles, microphones, speakers, Dante Network management, and playback devices. Familiarity with digital audio workstations (DAWs) and audio editing software is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong ear for sound quality and precision.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly resolve technical issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with team members and clients.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules.
  • A degree or certification in audio engineering, sound design, or a related field is preferred.

Compensation:

  • Hourly Rate: $55.00 per hour

  • Overtime: Paid at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate for all eligible overtime hours, calculated on a weekly basis in accordance with applicable labor laws.
