Divisional Overview
The Risk Division is a team of specialists charged with managing the firm's credit, market, liquidity, and operational risk. Whether assessing the creditworthiness of the firm's counterparties, monitoring market risks associated with trading activities, or offering analytical and regulatory compliance support, our work contributes directly to the firm's success. The division is ideal for collaborative individuals who have strong ethics and attention to detail.
Department Overview
Credit Risk is responsible for managing the firm's credit exposure to its trading and lending counterparties. Leveraging its extensive expertise in financial, credit and risk analysis, CR ensures that credit exposure to our counterparts is managed within the firm's risk appetite. Credit professionals work closely with many areas of the firm. Given this structure, CR professionals gain diverse financial experience and a broad perspective on how the entire firm functions. The interaction with numerous departments and the range of projects that ensue allow for a challenging, varied and multi-dimensional work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate derivatives and financing transactions across Global Banking & Markets clients. Review and approve risk in a fast-paced environment while ensuring appropriate mitigants in place to minimize losses in event of counterparty default
  • Assess the financial strength of financial institutions, such as banks, insurance companies, mortgage originators, private credit companies, broker dealers etc by performing fundamental counterparty analysis. Interpret quantitative and qualitative factors drawn from risk reports, portfolio analysis, and client calls
  • Approve transactions across Institutional Derivatives and Funding business lines (interest rate derivatives, FX options, prime brokerage, repo, etc). Opine on initial margin based on counterparty and trade details. Drive risk conversations with respective trading and sales teams
  • Perform counterparty reviews, recommend internal ratings, and set counterparty risk limits

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or finance
  • 0-3 years of experience in a financial analyst role preferred
  • Knowledge of capital markets, including derivatives and/or repo product
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills. Attention to detail
  • Values continuous self-improvement and learning

  • Functional Expertise and Technical Skills - Knowledge of financial markets and portfolio risk management. Appropriate financial/analytical skills

  • Judgment and Problem Solving - Thinks ahead, anticipates questions, plans for contingencies, finds alternative solutions, and identifies clear objectives. Sees the big picture and effectively analyzes complex issues
  • Creativity and Influence - Looks for new ways to improve current processes and develop creative solutions with practical value
