Work Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm + on call as needed
Work Location: BSSF Hospital (West Ashley) with floating to all department locations as needed including Roper Hospital (Downtown Charleston), Mount Pleasant, Berkeley Hospital (Summerville), James Island, and Moncks Corner.
Job Summary:
This MRI Lead Tech leads the daily activities of technical personnel assigned to the MRI department. The Lead Tech will perform MRI procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by, and at the request of, a licensed independent practitioner. They will alter imaging protocols at the request of Radiologists. The Lead Tech will work closely under the direction of the Radiologist and other physicians.
Essential Functions:
  • Demonstrates team building and leadership behavior to accomplish tasks and organizational objectives.
  • Interviews and recommends applicants for employment. Provides orientation and in-service educational programs for MRI technologists.
  • Supervises MRI Technologists and models professional and leadership behavior to all personnel.
  • Evaluates and counsels MRI staff work performance according to hospital procedures.
  • Maintains proper staff levels and assigns call.
  • Completes assigned tasks in a time frame appropriate for the situation; demonstrates flexibility to fluctuation in workload.

Education:
  • Associate's from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred)

Required Licensing & Certifications:
  • MRI Registry from an accredited organization (ARRT), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) (required)
  • State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)
  • BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)

OR
  • Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Advanced MRI Registry (MR) (required)
  • State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)
  • BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)

Experience:
  • 1 year of experience in MRI department in hospital setting (required)
  • 2 year' experience in MRI department in hospital setting (preferred)
