Job description

Reporting Relationship: This position reports to the Principal.

Exemption Status: Non-exempt/Hourly (part time; 10-months, when school is in session), 20 hours per week.

This position works cooperatively with leadership of the congregation that owns the school (if any), LUMIN's Board of Directors, school staff, parents and students to help the school accomplish its mission of nurturing and equipping all children in a strong Christian and academic environment to become life long learners, growing in faith, capable of making responsible decisions, and serving God and the community.

The Food Server will serve food to students for breakfast and lunch. Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitor food distribution, ensuring that meals are served in the proper portions on trays
  • Examine trays to ensure that they contain required items.
  • Place food servings on plates and trays according to orders or instructions.
  • Stock service stations with items such as milk, napkins, and straws.
  • Move food trays
  • Some supervision of students during lunch period
  • Completion of appropriate paperwork
  • Proper sanitation of all work areas and serving utensils, containers and food trays
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of students as directed by the school personnel
  • NOTE: No cooking or baking required. Food is pre-prepared and delivered to the school site ready to serve.

    Administrative
  • Participate and attend school functions, devotions, faculty meetings and parent conferences, as applicable.

  • Must believe in Christianbased philosophy and principles and extend those to students and families.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a professional manner with a diverse population of children, youth and adults.
  • Possess the ability to establish a rapport with youth, parents and other staff, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Effectively collaborate with other disciplines in problem solving.
  • Experience working in an urban school environment, including general knowledge of issues facing atrisk youth, is helpful.

  • Ability to communicate and work in multiple settings and environments.
