Description
Heyer Elementary School is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to work with a medically fragile student. This will be a 2-3 day work week for 7.25 hrs each day, which includes riding the bus with the student to and from school.
SUMMARY:
The qualified RN will provide nursing care for the medically fragile student(s) in a school setting in accordance with students' Individual Education Plan, as well as additional responsibilities for educational support in the classroom.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
• Provides respiratory assessments and the need for appropriate intervention.
• Provides g-tube feedings, medication administration, and documentation.
• Communicates with physicians, district nursing staff, school staff, and student's family.
• Other medical and educational responsibilities as assigned.
• Provides continuity of care through consistent documentation that reflects nursing processes.
• Participates as the health specialist on the IEP team to assess children with special health care needs.
• Maintains client confidentiality within the legal, regulatory and ethical parameters of health and education.
• Maintains timely communication with principals, teachers, other school personnel, and parent/guardians.
• Serves as a liaison between the home, school, and community.
• Completes other duties as assigned.
