Job description

Location: Dublin, OH Salary: $50.00 USD Hourly - $60.00 USD Hourly Description: Our client is currently seeking a Mainframe Engineer
THIS POSITION IS ONSITE 4 DAYS A WEEK. 100% REMOTE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, DB2, and JCL
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Enhance existing applications and support modernization initiatives
  • Write and optimize DB2 SQL queries and stored procedures
  • Develop and maintain batch processes using JCL
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including performance tuning and debugging
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, business analysts, and infrastructure teams
  • Support system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and deployment activities
  • Document technical designs, processes, and system changes

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years (or adjust as needed) of hands-on mainframe development experience
  • Strong proficiency in:
    • COBOL programming
    • CICS online transaction processing
    • DB2 (SQL development, performance tuning)
    • JCL (Job Control Language)
  • Experience with mainframe debugging and testing tools
  • Solid understanding of batch and online processing environments
  • Familiarity with SDLC methodologies (Agile or Waterfall)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
