Overview
The Help Desk Technician is responsible for general maintenance of desktop hardware and software. This includes, but is not limited to, desktop computers, laptops, printers, copiers, phones, and other peripherals. They will provide customer service to all FWM information systems users.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or significant college coursework and/or experience in a related field required.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience with computer hardware, software, and networking or related field.

Job Responsibilities

  • Setup new computers and related systems. Install, configure, and maintain desktop hardware and software in a timely manner to maximize organizational performance.
  • Document installation procedures and hardware/software issues that arise.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software failures and replace or repair as needed.
  • Train and provide technical support to end users and other technical support staff in the uses and abilities of systems.
  • Maintain security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
  • Troubleshoot network connection problems.
  • Contribute to and maintain system and network standards.
  • Research and report on new technology.
  • Research and report on any IT security threats.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Skills Needed

  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical employees.
  • Able to accurately troubleshoot computer and systems problems.
  • Must be able to work without close supervision and be capable of self-checking completed work.
  • Must possess strong analytical skills to solve hardware and software related issues.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Fast paced office environment in a manufacturing facility.
  • Work hours consist of 40 hours per week.
  • Overtime may sometimes be required.
  • Travel between facilities required.
  • Must be able to access all levels of operation, including second floors.
  • Moderate bending, stooping, and regular lifting of equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Sitting and working at a computer for extended periods of time.
