MLT (ASCP) - CHS LABORATORY - PRN VARIES

Salary Range $23.80 - $44.40 Hourly Position Type PRN (16 Hours) Job Shift Varies Category Laboratory Services

Job Description

Performs laboratory tests in hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, special chemistry, transfusion service, and serology per policy and procedure. Performs calibrations and interprets testing and QC patterns.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrates specific hematology skills as listed and in accordance with the hematology procedure manual.
  2. Demonstrates specific coagulation skills as listed and in accordance with the coagulation procedure manual.
  3. Demonstrates specific urinalysis skills as listed and in accordance with the urinalysis procedure manual.
  4. Demonstrates specific chemistry skills as listed and in accordance with the chemistry procedure manual.
  5. Demonstrates specific blood banking skills as listed and in accordance with the transfusion service procedure manual.
  6. Demonstrates specific serology skills as listed and in accordance with the serology procedure manual.
  7. Demonstrates other skills and duties as listed and in accordance with other laboratory procedure manuals.
  8. Demonstrates ability to draw Arterial Blood Gases.
  9. Demonstrates ability to perform finger sticks, heel sticks, and venipunctures on children.
  10. Demonstrates ability to collect nasopharyngeal swabs, nasal swabs, and throat swabs.
  11. Performs collection and testing on persons of all ages (from infants to elderly) per specimen collection manual.
  12. Performs Medical Necessity screening and follow-up.
  13. Draws patients at Staunton Rehab and the Clinics.
  14. Represents the department in a professional manner.
Qualifications

Education Requirements and Other Requirements:

Education Level:

Associate Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent.

Certification/Licensure:

MLT(ASCP) preferred (ASCP, AAB, AMT). BLS

Experience Requirements:

Minimum one-year hospital laboratory experience preferred.
