POSTING FOR UNMC EMPLOYEES ONLY
Experienced laboratory professional to supervise the Tissue Procurement Service (TPS) in the Department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology, including specimen transport, processing, storage, distribution and generated of curated clinical information. Coordinate with multiple research teams and IRB to produce a daily schedule of procurement services; develop new and maintain current procurement protocols; maintain procurement records and assist with audits and IRB renewals; manage laboratory operations; report procurement outcomes to laboratory medical director; and ensure accurate invoicing and payments with facility finances business director. Oversee the performance of technical and training of technical procurement staff.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Experience in research or clinical laboratory setting with knowledge of methods and procedures related to study design, project coordination, regulatory compliance, tissue banking, and/or histopathological techniques.
At least one year's experience in the supervision of laboratory technical team.
Required License No If yes, what is the required licensure/certification? Required Computer Applications: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook Required Other Computer Applications: Scientific data analysis software Required Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of research methodology and techniques.
  • Knowledge of histology laboratory operations.
  • Skilled in tissue processing and paraffin embedding, microtomy, and tissue staining.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and handle data efficiently.
  • Ability to analyze, document, and interpret laboratory and statistical data.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with multiple laboratory managers, research study coordinators, and medical faculty across clinical and research operations.
  • Willingness to accept training in new techniques, technologies and computer software applications.
  • Skilled in the management and direction of technical teams and staff.
Preferred Education: Master's degree If any degree/training is preferred, please specify the type:
Biology, Pathology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related scientific field.
Preferred Experience:
More than five years in research or clinical laboratory setting with direct experience in methods and procedures related to study design, project coordination, regulatory compliance, tissue banking, and histopathological techniques.
