DoubleTree by Hilton Portland is seeking an experienced Hotel Group Sales Manager to drive group room nights, meeting sales, event sales, convention sales, and revenue generation. This role focuses on proactive hotel sales, hospitality sales, business development, prospecting, account management, contract negotiation, and client relationship management for one of Portland's premier convention and event hotels. What You'll Do: Drive Sales & Revenue

  • Grow top-line revenue by following the sales strategy established by the Director of Sales & Marketing and identifying opportunities that maximize hotel profitability.
  • Achieve individual revenue goals, room night targets, market share growth, and quarterly sales objectives.
  • Own your revenue goals, managing client budgets thoughtfully to meet their needs while maximizing hotel revenue.
  • Stay plugged into the market: know the competitors, understand demand trends, and adapt your approach accordingly.
  • Focus heavily on proactive selling by targeting high-potential accounts, markets, and segments.
  • Identify, qualify, solicit, and close new business opportunities aligned with hotel objectives.
  • Prospect and develop business from corporate, association, government, SMERF, sports, tour & travel, reunion, social, and conference markets.
  • Proactively generate business through direct prospecting, Cvent leads, referrals, appointments, networking, sales missions, and industry partnerships.
  • Respond to incoming leads within your market segment within four hours.
  • Accurately forecast room nights, group revenue, catering opportunities, and market performance.
  • Prepare sales contracts and understand departmental budgets to help achieve or exceed financial goals.
  • Represent DoubleTree by Hilton Portland and Hilton brand standards in all client interactions.

Build Relationships & Guest Satisfaction

  • Create strong, long-term relationships with new and existing clients through sales calls, site visits, entertainment, familiarization tours (FAMs), networking events, and follow-up activities.
  • Be a visible, trusted partner throughout the event lifecycle, from pre-event planning to post-event follow-up.
  • Collaborate closely with Convention Services to ensure seamless turnover and flawless event execution.
  • Step in to solve problems, offer alternatives, and ensure client expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Gather guest feedback, address concerns professionally, and continuously improve the customer experience.

Stay Organized & Execute Well

  • Use Delphi and other CRM systems to track client activity and maintain accurate records.
  • Follow all hotel standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities with urgency and focus.
  • Leverage sales tools, systems, reporting, and support teams effectively.
  • Follow through on leads, requests, opportunities, and issues until they are fully resolved.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hotel sales, hospitality sales, group sales, or convention hotel sales experience.
  • Demonstrated success driving group room nights, meeting business, convention business, and event revenue.
  • Hands-on experience with Delphi or comparable hotel sales software.
  • PMS experience (PEP or similar hotel property management systems).
  • Confident negotiator with strong closing and persuasion skills.
  • Proven business development and proactive prospecting experience.
  • Strong relationship-building and customer development skills.
  • Ability to manage guest room blocks and meeting space inventory.
  • Knowledge of contracts, legal considerations, AV products, event services, and meeting planning.
  • Solid financial acumen, including understanding P&L statements and revenue management principles.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Delphi, Cvent, and CRM systems.
