Job description

Duties include but are not limited to the following: Heat soup and display, prepare back up soups, clean, fill, flip salad bar and rotate, take out frozen items from freezer for salad bar use, prepare lettuce and tomatoes for deli daily use, open canned products for the salad bar, get supplies needed for the soup and salad bar, wash salad bar dishes and containers, fill olive bar, throw away empty buckets of olives, organize and clean olive and produce shelves in the walk-in refrigerator, fill and clean salad bar, make any orders with Manager in items from salad bar before the end of shift. Complete outside set up by 7:30am, complete inside set up by 10:00am, responsible for cleanliness and sanitation of salad case and salad bar, prep salads, flip, fill salads and rotate product, organize and clean salad back up refrigerator, wash salad case and dishes, fill salads, if necessary, before the end of shift, prep necessary salads for the next day, pull necessary items from freezer.  Heat and put out all hot foods by 10:30am daily, maintain hot food department and hot table, clean, rotate and fill, clean and organize hot foods refrigerator, responsible for cleanliness and sanitation of hot foods station, responsible for preparing chickens, pull all items for the following day (wings, ribs, etc), make sure dishes are put away, fill and clean hot food area before end of shift, customer service, make sure all deliveries are put away in the proper refrigerator or freezer, make sure hot table is clean and fresh at all times. Set up second sandwich stations, back up meat and cheeses, organize and fill gourmet sandwich station, wipe and freshen up soaps and salad bar, clean slicers before the end of shift and help prepare for the closing shift. Back up meats and cheese sections, clean and sanitize refrigerator, get pickles, cheese, mayo, mustards, and peppers for the next day, fill gourmet spreads and mustards in squeeze bottles, get all supplies from shed, responsible for cleanliness and sanitations around sink area in deli, pull salad spoons and signs at 8:30pm for salad case, pull soups and turn off soup well at 8:30pm.  Close the salad bar at 8:40pm, sweep and clean slicers. Assist morning cook, fill, rotate and change pans as needed, make sure the hot food table is clean and fresh at all times, fill trays, make sure there is enough food for evening dinner time, make sure all items are ready for the next day, start condensing pans down, pull all pans and wrap up for the next day. occasionally help bakery slice breads.
                            
Job Requirements: To perform the job of Deli Clerk within Piazza’s Fine Foods, the Deli Clerk must be able to all duties and responsibilities in an efficient and responsible manner that meets the minimum standard for productivity, cleanliness, harmony, and safety as defined by Piazza’s Fine Foods. Hold a High School diploma or GED;  possess the ability to interpret a variety of instructions in diagram, oral, schedule or written form;  possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of issues that may arise;  be fully knowledgeable and thoroughly familiar with all products carried in the department;  possess the ability to handle special orders or requests from customers accurately, and  possess sufficient memory retention to memorize weekly ad prices and sale items.
Physical Requirements:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand for long periods of time, and use his/her hands to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools or controls;  the employee must frequently walk, talk, or hear, and reach with his/her arms including periodic stretching;  the employee must be able to lift 50 pounds at least once per shift;  the employee must be able to climb a ladder to retrieve items from overhead racks and storage areas, sweep and mop  floors, and carry out the trash;  the employee must have sufficient physical ability to respond quickly to fire or other emergencies such as clean up requests for due to accidental spillage or breakage of glass;  the employee must be able to tolerate dust, chemical  fumes from common household cleaning agents such as ammonia during routine housekeeping duties;  must be able to tolerate temperature changes in both heated cooking areas and refrigerated storage areas for 20 minutes at a time.
