THE ROLE

As a Mess (Hospitality) Manager, you provide an excellent customer experience in our military messes. During big events to every day moments, you will build a rapport with the military community while utilizing your operational and hospitality experience. Military messes are places where Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members come together to socialize and foster morale.

The Mess (Hospitality) Manager will ensure smooth operation of the messes’ activities and operations, including bar operations, while adhering to strict requirements for health, hygiene and safety. You will manage the scheduling, training and performance of employees. You will develop operations budgets, business plans and monitor and report on all expenses.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

College diploma or certificate in hospitality, food service management, or a related field and some years of experience in hospitality or food and beverage service sector or high school diploma and several years of experience in the food service sector, or in a related hospitality field, including supervisory experience

Provincial Responsible Service of Alcohol certification, as required

In coordinating bar operations services

In applying policies, procedures, regulations, and applicable legislation

In coordinating banquets and functions

In inventory and bar management

In negotiating service contracts

In preparing marketing strategies

In managing facilities

In budget administration

In personnel administration

In using software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, e-mail, and Internet browsing
