Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a PBX Operator, you will be responsible for all operations related to the hospital's Communications and Security Systems.

Daily, you will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values, supporting our hospital's strategic plan and quality improvement initiatives. You will manage calls, operate the switchboard, respond to emergencies, and monitor security systems, ensuring seamless and secure communication.

Success in this role requires exceptional communication, calm under pressure, a commitment to service excellence, and dedication to the hospital's mission and values.

  • Knows location of equipment, passwords, and is able to login/out as necessary.
  • Follows protocol for rebooting as needed
  • Effectively utilizes computer based telephony system for all call processing (other than down time scenarios)
  • Accepts incoming calls, directing them to the proper departments with care and efficiency. Also places outbound and long distance calls as needed
  • Displays a very high level of service and commitment to organization and performs in a friendly, professional, and responsible manner.
  • Speaks clearly and distinctly; demonstrates proper use of the English language
Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Graduate/GED
  • Two years PBX operator, customer service, or hospital related experience

Preferred

  • Some college level education
  • Three years customer service experience, preferably in a hospital PBX or high volume call center environment 
  • Experience in the hospital setting
