Job description

Lighthouse Lab Services is currently partnered with an established hospital laboratory, and we are seeking a Senior Director - Hospital Lab Services to join and lead their team of lab staff and phlebotomists. This is a Monday-Friday day shift opportunity in Hillsboro, OH.
The Role You'll Play:
  • Lead hospital technical and lab support departments to meet business goals and customer expectations while delivering timely, cost-effective, high-quality laboratory services aligned with the company's mission and values.
  • Set operating systems, test/work schedules, and staffing with the Senior Director to optimize service delivery.
  • Manage departmental budgets, balancing operational expenses with marketing needs.
  • Oversee quality assurance and coordinate improvement activities across technical and lab support areas.
  • Serve as the operational liaison between the laboratory and the hospital.
  • Develop technical operations policies with Medical and Technical Directors to ensure compliance with CLIA ’88, CAP, and other regulatory/accrediting agencies.
  • Maintain CAP inspection readiness and participate in external inspections.
  • Oversee method verifications, ongoing validations, and monitoring of test performance.
  • Evaluate test menus and methodologies and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure adequate supply inventory.
  • Support other testing departments with method verification, instrument selection, correlations, reference ranges, and other CLIA-required activities.
  • Manage Engagement Survey results, address issues, and involve staff in planning and action-plan implementation.
  • Provide consistent communication through meetings, scorecards, memos, CE opportunities, and follow-up from management meetings.
  • Select, train, evaluate, and develop staff; ensure complete training, orientation, competency, and corrective-action documentation.
  • Complete all required company documentation on time, including timecards, reviews, checklists, RCAs, and LMS training.
  • Contribute to organizational management through collaboration with sales, project work, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Prepare monthly reports on quality, productivity, projects, and financials; submit budget variance reports as required.
  • Oversee compliance activities and assist in developing compliance policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical and lab support consultation to client hospitals, labs, physician offices, and industry partners.
  • Maintain and update department procedure manuals per document-control requirements.
  • Participate in teaching students, residents, and fellows as needed.
  • Promote and uphold a strong safety culture and comply with all safety and health policies.
  • Maintain professional external contacts.
  • Support process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional technical, administrative, non-technical, or educational duties as needed to support the company's overall effectiveness.

What We're Looking For:

  • B.S. in Medical Lab Science, Biology, or a related field.
  • ASCP-certification.
  • 3+ years of laboratory experience.
  • Demonstrated success in roles with progressively increasing responsibility, supported by strong skills and abilities.
  • Integrity and accuracy in decision-making and independent judgment.
  • Excellent communication and team-building skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage timetables, and maintain multiple areas of responsibility simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates the core values of the organization.

Salary + Benefits:

  • Monday-Friday day shift hours
  • $78,000-$120,000 (DOE)
